Cheap way to get USA parts etc
Hi all, a friend of mine who orders a lot of parts for Corvettes from the US has told me of a service which is much more reliable and cheaper than having the stuff shipped by the supplier directly to the uk.
Its called Moving-parts.com, and they are a uk based company. Basically they have a huge container waiting in the states, you order the bits you want from a US supplier and have them deliver it to the US address for Moving-parts. Then its loaded on the container and flown over once a week or when the container is full. When it arrives (heathrow i think) you can either go and collect your goods or they will arrange delivery for you. Moving parts make sure all the goods are packaged well enough so theres no transport damage too. I'm told they are very good, reliable and cheap. They can quote you 1st if you have a description (ebay item etc) and the more info the better. Its got to be better than paying $500 shipping for a $400 bodykit so I think i'm gonna give it a go when I can afford my kit. Try the site and it will give you all the info. |

had a reply from Steve regarding the importing of items with gas in them (Shock absorbers):
These will be Hazardous Goods. In this case the customer has to find out the following from the supplier (assuming the supplier is familiar with shipping these goods): A. UN number- Class-Packing Group B. Would the supplier be able to provide the "Shippers Declaration for Dangerous Goods" and pack these goods according to the IATA Regulations for air shipment. We need all this information in order to see if these goods can be shipped by air and in what aircraft they can go on (Passenger or Cargo). The cost of shipping depends on that info. I suggest you get this info before you use them. I sent the questions to Matt@probegarage.com but no reply yet. Mark |
