Need help with Aerial

JUst got a new aerial from Autopower on e-bay. It's made by Maystar part no. B1041. It was advertised as fitting a MX-6 but Mazdas aren't listed on the box. It comes with alot of universal fittings but I can't work out how the thing clamps to the underside of the wing. Just wondered if anyone else out there has had any experience with this particular aerial or aerials in general. A new one from Mazda is something stupid like £190!

Cheers in advance.

You can find them on ebay for around £30 from what I remember. Have a look through some of the old threads in the For Sale section, I'm sure a link was posted to one a while back... You could always see if the seller has any more.

Hi Tallboy, welcome to the club.

From your post i'm assuming you have already purchased the aerial.

To remove the original mazda one, it is held in place by a single nut and bolt (attached to the aerial) located inside the boot, and The rubber mount top on the outside of the wing which is held in place by the silver ring screwing onto the top of the aerial. You need to remove both the nut and the rubber mount. If the new aerial you have bought does not have the bolt to mount in the boot then you only have the rubber mount left, and in my opinion is NOT a replacement. You can try it with just the rubber mount, but i think the torque of the motor kicking in will make the whole thing move around and put quite a bit of load on the mount. or you could tie-wrap it in the boot to stop it moving.

Oddy.
