Nick doesn't normally charge by the hour, but rather per the job, so it is better to give him a bell and he will give you the price..
However, he did say as a ballpark figure, it's £35 an hour.

My guys were unable to make a decision on what was actually wrong with my MX6. They put some treatment in the oil (seems to have quietened the tapping), but now the engine is rocking a little from back to front at tick over and keeps dropping revs to about 250!!! It's crazy!
check all the pipes and the rubber elbow on the intake...
plenty of other options, but that's the most common.

I get nothing other than the satisfaction that another car is getting well looked after.. plus that I have helped another member (again)

I live about half a mile away from him, and took my 626 down there for a couple of things - the last one being a service.
A couple of days later, the car died on a motorway: I got it towed back to Nick, who had a look and determined that the problem was a perished wire which was shorting out on the engine block. Since this was indirectly due to the service (which had moved the cable), he very kindly taped the cable up and returned the car to me without charging me a penny.
The joy of this lasted until he tried to move the car and discovered it still wouldn't start. Further waggling of the cable revealed it was broken internally, so he ordered and fitted a new cable. When I came to pick it up, all he charged me for was the cable: no labour costs at all. I don't think there's too many garages which are willing to be this generous: the first fault could be construed as their fault, but the second problem certainly wasn't!
Nick is a nice, friendly and open guy: I can't praise him or his garage enough.
(btw Einstein: you may want to change the spelling of specialist!)
