Thumbs up Air intake system

Hi all.

I’m new here.

Just bought a 1997 mx6 gt.

Had a look at the air induction system at the week end and came across some kind of resonator/ baffle just engine side of the air box.

Is this detachable from the air box? I’m looking to put an induction kit on it but was baffled (pun not intended) by this contraption.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Antony

Hi again Tony, yes the air meter or MAF unbolts and pulls free of the air box. Take at look at some of the member fotos or my album below to see how its intergrated with a Cold Air Intake.

I'm in the UK mate, Kent .. the CAI is from the states side ebay, if you have an auto box you cannot use the full length CAI as the box gets in the way. The Autos have a shorter downpipe keeping above the box, in which case you are better keeping the air duct over the radiator to channel cold air to it.
If your unsure about the CAI you want, post the ebay item on here and we will let you know.

APL you need to get in touch with one of our members - RushingRasheed - He lives in Kingston and has a highly modded MX-6. He is a good chap and would love to show you around his motor.

Thanks for the info guys.

I have a manual gt btw.

I will get a cai from American ebay and pick up a universal filter then.

How good do they sound with an induction kit?

What is the thing just engine side of the air box?

Is it to promote lamina floow of the air????

Cheers

I think you are talking about the VAF... or Airflow Meter...

round pipe, with an electrical connection, and a cone inside the front..

When you fit a CAI, you remove the airbox, but you still need the VAF, or the engine will not run.
