Cambelt Change - £200 fitted
After talking with a lot of lads at the meets it seems a lot of us are quoted silly money for a cambelt change on our mx6's.
Tonight I took my car to the workshop where my friend Paul does work in the evenings. He's a veteran trained mechanic, has a 4 poster ramp, all the tools, welders, air compressor etc etc and I asked him to give me a price for doing work on Mx6's
After checking the Autodata he suggested that a sensible allowance for a complete cambelt kit change, including belt and idlers etc would be 3 hours. When he rang the suppliers he could get a kit trade at just over £100 but I suggested that Probestore do a standard kit for around £90 and sell good products.
With this in mind he gave 2 options.
Supply and fit a cambelt kit, including belts, idlers and re-set the tensioner would be £200
another option would be to supply your own kit which Paul would fit for £100
The price would be slightly more if a new water pump is to be fitted but this could be negotiated, again on a supply/fit or fit only basis.
Paul is located in Grantham, Lincs and works at the workshop most evenings and Saturday daytime.
Other things he quoted for were things like a clutch/flywheel change, which he gave a labour only price of £250.
If anyone is interested feel free to give me a call or Pm me.
