Went with Tescos last year for my Nove (no comments please) and that had more mods declared than I care to think about and fully comp was less than £200 (4 years no claims and I was 33 at the time). For the standard mx-6 (give me a chance, I should only be gettiing it this week) though I went Direct Line. Their online deal was £326 fully comp, £50 cheaper than even Tesco.

Thumbs up

Right heres a breakdown of what/ and who ive done so far.

Me; 25, 8 years NCD, low crime area, 6000 miles pa, no points, no accidents, no convictions. Uk full licence. driving since 10/98, aquired car on 12/2003. Social and commuting, electrcian.

Car, Mazda mx3. 2.5 v6 from mx6, uprated clutch, flywheel, sparkleads, air filter, battery relocation, engine polished, alloy wheels, suspension 30mm, dials, front brakes 325mm 4 pot calipers. ( alot of these didnt actually affect policy but i wanted to be sure everything was covered)
Security; Cobra Cat 1 ararm/immobilizer.

The contenders;

Herts Insurance co, 01279 506090
Adrian flux 08700 777888
Sky insurance 0870 1121759
Performance direct 0870 420 3896

results so far;

HIC £361.00, fully comp. protected NCD. £250 excess
Adrain flux £415 fully comp, protected NCD.
Sky insurance £361.00 " " " . £250 excess
Performance direct £426.25 fully comprehensive, protected NCD.

Ive search loads of other sites and forums and the above are the contenders i kept coming across.

I am dead pleased as i thought moddifying a car like i have would have pushed up my premium to atleast £700-£850 !!! Im all smiles me

Decided to go with HIC because its like for like cover and i can agree a fixed priced value if car gets writen off, instead of market value. That me for another year. Happy hunting guys !!

edit 14/4/06 got my renewal quote from elephant.co.uk as a standard 1.8 mx-3 they want £579 !!!.......so ive got more hp now and saved money.....figre that one out ???

insurance query

does anyone know how the insurance policy works?

do they cover you for any danage to the mods and cover the cost of re-purchase and fitment?

can anyone shed any light on how it works for such policies?

I rang about 10 companies on the weekend and it ranged from 660 - 1300 for the both of us to drive the car (myself and gf) she has 4 yrs no claims and me 6yrs. My query was how are you insured? If some numskull crashed into us with a bodykit on our car and alloys etc and had to rebuy the kit and pay for fitting would you be covered?

any ideas guys?

I'm with Tesco, and have all my mods declared. They asked me how much each item was to purchase/fit so they could add the cost to the value of the car. So if the worst should happen, I'm not thousands outta pocket

Matt

Quietly modding!

What's that coming over the hill? Is it a Mazda? Is it a Mazda

im with hic, see up 2 posts, the cover like for like mods. So if you get dinged then whats on there goes back on.

For £15 you can also agree a valuation, so if youve spent loads on the motor, then you can agree more than market value. Im going to try and get mine insured for 4K
