cambelt

recently found out that the 2 services done at around 60k didn't fit a new cambelt. So, it goes without saying, I need to replace it shortly (66k).

would you guys recommend I change Lara's water pump while they're at it also? Or is the engine young enough to ignore it at the mo?

Also, what's the best engine degreaser to use? Picked up some from Halfords but I'm not very impressed with the results. You guys have any tips on the best way to clean up the rocker covers? (Ken?)

I'd say yes, change the water pump while the belts being done Elmer. You'll only regret it otherwise...

Rocker covers - hmmm. A good stiff wire brushing then paint 'em like I did.

Thx Ken

Will do.

Got quoted £390 from Mazda dealer Arnold Clark. Isn't that a bit steep for a cambelt and water pump?

As for the de-greaser, a recommendation from a guy in my Mini club is Flash Orange peel Kitchen cleaner. He reckoned it was better than the Gunk he used to use (and it v. cheap!)

And it makes your engine smell fresh too.
