I've just been to get my wheels balanced because she was vibrating around 70-75 and ended up needing two new tyres and the tracking sorted. Thats not the worst of it. We had to lift the spare wheel out of the swimming pool that used to be the spare wheel stowage and drain the stagnant water, he then showed me that my wheels were deteriorating inside the rims and should be replaced asap, I then had a look under the car while the guy was sorting the tracking. OMG the Cat is leaking, the front box is falling apart, the rear box has been pugged there's an oil leak and a low deep knocking sound coming from the engine and the rear number plate lights are hanging on some fragile looking flaky brown rust that once must of been metal.
So tonight it's to drown my sorrows.
BTW does anyone know where I can pick up a cheap Zorst, Cat, Wheels?????
hehehe
i must say
DAMNN
the knocking sound from the engine ithink is the HLA which is normal , engine flush and oil + oil filter(filter from mazda) should fix that
cat is about 150
wheels - soundsa bit wierd to me ...
RUSHING RASHEEEEEED
Current 2009 STi - Dark grey. STOCK...for now
SOLD - 2004 STI
SOLD - 1993 JDM mx6
I've got a set of wheels with practically new tyres, cat will be around the £90-100, zorst... go stainless, will cost more but last the cars lifetime.
Knocking noise from the bottom of the engine.. could be lots of things.. big ends, bearings... get it checked. Oil leak is probably a minor thing... you don't say where it's leaking.

I agree with getting a stainless zorst, the guy even recommended that I do that as the car worth keeping (his words). He also recommended I go for 17" wheels as it was getting more expensive to buy 15".
It sounds like a lower engine problem, rater than an upper one like friction gear or hla's... Unlike those, theres are more serious... and more expensive. Get it checked out, if something goes seriously wrong down there, it could wreck an engine completely.
Yeah the wheels are standard pie dish... see my before pics to see how good they look when clean. Water in the boot, I'm ya man as Tim said... Fast became an expert of sorting that out.

No, all cars from 91 onwards are required to have a cat fitted. If you decat a car, you'd have to refit the cat for the mot and take it off again afterwards.
I've considered it, but not sure I want the hassle.
