what about the 2.2L turbo canadian and american model? Does the kind of oil change because we have a turbo and must and see high temps in there and need loads of lube for the journal bearings?

Still, 5w-40 synthetic is the top option, this will look after the turbo fine.

10w-40 semi synthetic will do if changed on a regular basis.

Cheers

hi simon

i have emaild you but not get a reply back. So now i ask the same question here :
Hi

i want to know which oil you would recommon for me.

I drive a mazda mx6 with KLZE.
a KLZE is a high compression version of the KLDE, and with some other
modifications the power of the KLZE is increased to 197HP over the 165hp
of the normal european KLDE.

I have now a cheap oilbrand Kroon 5W30. My engine is much more noise then
i drove with Shell helix oil 0w50. But not yet the HLA that is tiking
my engine temperature with the 0w50 was close to 120C and with 5w30 about 110C

i gues best option on oil is W40, but i do not know which cold visco. i should use.

i also want another oil filter.

Could you advise me on the oil and the brand.
I guess shipping from you wouldn't be an option, too expensive.

Fred,

We did get your mail and sent a reply, however with our new ssytem a few have gone "wondering" normally because the return address has not been correct......

Any way here is the reply you should have got from my brother Guy.

Cheers

Simon.

Fred,

Thanks for the mail.

For your MX6 you are quite right a 5w-40 full synthetic will be the best choice for all year round use.

You will find that the oil temps were higher with a thicker oil due to friction, the thinner oil will move faster dissipating the heat as it goes, but and SAE40 would be the best compromise between good flow and hot end protection.

The 5w-30 you are currently using but it will be a semi synthetic as most 5w-30’s are, normally fine but for a modded engine, if driven hard will shear down with ease.

Brand wise, we rate silkolene and motul as tops.

Let me know how much you are interested in and I will get a quote for shipping.

Regards

Guy.

thank you for clearing up.
I hope to find a dealer for some good oil to avoid those shipping cost.

I guess i'll buy a Shell oil , but so far no one recommendated a shell oil.
i work at shell and should get a discount for that oil.

If you dis-advise the shell oil i'll look for the oil recommanded by you.

We are alse debatting slick50 as a suplment. As far as i know slick50 is a company of Shell. Is slick50 as every other additional suplment , thus useless?

thanx!

Don't use slick 50. Just a decent oil.

Did you look at the price of Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL 5w-40 in the "Members Section" of our website. If not, take a look http://www.opieoils.co.uk

Just apply for an access code and take a look.

Cheers

The Shell helix Ultra would be a good bet, what other brands do you have available to you out there Fred?

Cheers.

in local stores only Castrol and Mobile1 as "A"- brands
then you got Comma, Kroon, MPM.

So these 6 ( shell included) brands are the most common.
Fuchs, silicolene , Amsoil are even new to me.

I have read that Royalpurple works very well with the V6 engine but in europe , it's onle availible in Norway. Also read good things about redline. There is a dealer in the Netherlands for that brand only not nearby my house.

Just a question. Is motorcycle oil the same as car oil if the weights are the same?

oilman, my mx6 has over 160,000km and burns oil. My last oil change was with Motul 5w 40..... would i be better served using a 10w 30/40... for engine protection???

No need to change, 5w-40 is ideal.

oil type?

Well despite not having my beloved MX6 any more i knew exactly where to come for decent oil advice!
I now a VW Golf GT TDI 130 PD. ( i do alot of miles!) I have been told that the 'PD' engines need special oil and that even the likes of mobil 1 etc are simply not good enough. Strange thing is i have seen on some oils that they say they are suitable for all vw engines..... Now i have been told that using the wrong oil will damage the engine so obviously want to avoid this.
What do you recommend / advise?

p.s its a 2001 model - MK4

many thanks

.....and so i find myself asking, 'At what point does the 'end' start?!'

I have a PD engine myself and they do indeed need an oil thats meets a certain specification.

There are two specs to look out for, VW505.01 and these are 5w-40 and for the PD engine on the fixed service schedule (changed every 10,000 or once a year) the other is the VW507.00 and these tend to be 5w-30 and are for the long life service schedule (when the on board computer decides it wants a service).

Plenty to choose from, Fuchs, Castrol, Motul, Mobil etc.

Cheers

Guy.
