After further thought on what to do about my engineless MX6 and initially thinking about flogging it I have decided to stick a new lump in her.
So does anyone on this board know of or have a spare 2.5 e or j- spec engine
please.
If there is a j-spec out there will I have to do much alteration on my e-spec motor
Thanks in advance
Si
J-spec will fit ok with out a lot of trouble. But to get the most out of it, you'll need to also get the j-spec VAF, ECU and Inlet Manifold. Without those, you'll find that you don't get all of the 198BHP compared to the UK 164BHP... I'd geusstimate around the 175-180BHP mark.

In my opinion it's better to buy a complete car to part out! that way you get every possible bit you may need and can recoup some of the cost by selling spares.
There have been a few on here recently with duff girly boxes (Autos) going for a reasonable amount.
agreed Gerry, buying an accident damaged one makes the most sense as you can offset the cost of doing the engine swap against selling off the other parts to recoup the £.
You missed out on the one in Cornwall that one of the lads bought. £175 buy it now on Ebay with most of the car in good condition ready to be stripped. Had grey leather too + alloys. Keep your eye out on ebay, recently someone got a 6 with minor front end damage for £400 and realistically your not going to get and engine on good nick for that. I paid £500 for my j-spec but that was without the manifold/ecu/vaf, just the short engine.
Sorcing an engine from a probe will be easier as theres more available and if you decide to get the Probe gearbox too you'll have the "better" 5th gear ratio.
in short, an engine will cost you £300-£500 where as a complete car will be about the same. I usually work on the principal that if most parts are in good condition (panels/bonnet/interior/lights etc etc) these parts should get you back £400 leaving you with an engine for free. It's more work but worth it in the long run.
The vultures on here will help you get rid of most of the bits i'm sure!!
I have a spare one
Fully stripped any ready for transport. There is no manifold with this but your old one should be fine.
It's a working E-spec lump but I can't confirm the mileage.
I am looking for around £350 for it (cost me close to £500)
I am thinking of adding Mark 626GT to my ignore list
Sent you a PM, wont be able to respond this eve tho to any reply

Yeah, def look for a spare car going cheap or for spares. I picked up a J-spec from ebay 4 weeks for £650 in amazing condition... Albeit the 2lt V6 rather than the 2.5lt V6.
I sold the car this week for twice what I paid.

As Stuzzer said, I just picked up a front end damaged one for the same reason you are after one, i'm undecided to repair the one i just got or do the engine swap. There are a few braking in south wales so i'll ask around and try and source find an engine for you

well, £400 gets you my engine, with a free car to go with it. My dad decided he didnt want to take the project on as he cant afford to insure 4 cars, so its still up for grabs it would seem.
