Rear Window Seal

Has anyone had the rear windscreen seal off before? And if so is it easy to replace?
I want to take it off to see if I can trace where the water is coming from as my boot is getting flooded.
Thanks Roy

Roy, I've had 2 second gen MX6's (94 and a 96) with water in the trunk (boot). I found out one day when had to use the spare, I found 3 inches of water in the spare wheel well.

The bad news - The rear glass moulding is urethaned in place along with the glass, you need a glass company to remove/reinstall the glass and a new moulding is very expensive.
The good news - on both my cars the water was not getting in through the glass, it was getting in behind the rear lights through worn out seals under the plastic retainers that the rear lights clip into.
After it has been raining for a while, remove the trim across the rear panel and look around those plastic retainers you will almost certainly see water or water tracks running down into the wheel well.
To fix the problem:
Remove the interior boot trim across the rear panel and both rear lights. You will see all those plastic retainers pushed into the rear panel. From memory, about 4 for each light plus a couple of others for the rear bumper. From inside and using a pair of pliers, squeeze the retainer to push them out of the panel, (you can see from inside how they are held in place). Clean off any crud from both the retainer and from the panel, apply a bead automotive grade sealer around the retainer and push them back into the holes. Let them sit for a while to allow the sealer to dry and replace all the parts removed.

This completely cured the water leaks on both my own vehicles and on a friends who had the same problem. Hope this helps you out.

If you think it is the rear screen get some clear silicone sealer and run a fine beed arround the black seal, smooth it out as much as poss then leave it for a week or so then check if you are still getting water, if you are its probably coming from somewhere else. I had a simular problem over the passenger door and that cured it.

Thanks for the replies..
I should have said trim not seal (doh) I dont want to pull it off and find I cant get it back on.

The water is running down from somewhere above the lip the bootlid sits.I can feel the water if I put my hand up the inside of the rear panel toward the bottom of the rear pillar.

To high up for it to be the bolts for the lid. And I dont have a sunroof.Thats with the car sitting on the flat.

The water problem I had was the seal that goes from the front windscreen, over the top of the doors and down to the back wing. Where the seal meets the roof it had lifted about 2mm, you had to look real close. The water was wetting the headlining just over the passenger seat where it meets the top of the door. I sealed with silicon over the seal (on the roof) and the damp patch mooved to over the rear passenger seat so I sealed all the way along and that solved it!
If the water is to one side try siliconing the seal.
