basically have the DE in my "3"
started fine until a couple of days ago, really wants to fire
but wont most of the time.. an when it does.. it runs really lumpy
checked the distribuor and leads but does anyone have any other idea as to what it could be
cheers
chris
If I could put money on anything it would be an air leak in the vacuum system, or some of the pipes aren't put back together right. Basically, for whatever reason I don't think air is getting into the system for it to fire up.
Otherwise it's a spark issue I think. Plugs would be my guess. But I talk out of my arse so don't listen to me.
ok, well a couple of days ago, all the coolinant froze in it
defrosted it... but aprt from that nothing significat has happened what so ever
its almost like the firing order is worng,, but soem times it starts
some times it wont
its really stange
Err...that doesn't sound too good, coolant freezing is a sign that the water content is too high. Water expands when it freezes, and that can be bad news for your engine!!!

when it starts, will it idle ok ? or really lumpy and then cut out ? .. did you run the car with it frozen up and did it overheat and boil out of the filler tank and cut out ? .. if so check your compression on the cylinders.
ran really lumpy.....an never ran long enough to overheat
slightly worried it might have pulled the cambelt out of time??
or broken the water pump,, or just fuked the engine
no...i havent
basically i didnt think it would be anything like that as like i said one evning, worked fine.,.. the next i arrived at the garage and had been told it was running badly so they had to push it out of the garage.......... that was before it had frozen up....so cant see it being a head gasket 2bh
as it nbow wont even start....smells very fuelly too
