Water Pump Woe HELP!

Utter Arseh, I'm having a mechanical nightmare, but not as much as the mechanic doing my cambelt/water pump, he got it all together today then found the water pump is the wrong bloody size and the hole in the pulley wheel is too small, so facing twice the labour now and a not very happy man, worse still may end up with the old water pump back on, cause guaranteed the local Mazda won't have one in stock! He says would be easier to change the pulley over to one with a bigger hole, no doubt that would cost a mint and be even more unlikely for the dealer to have one in stock, but would it work? Would it be possible to drill it out to the right size?

Does anyone have a spare 32mm water pump pulley? I'm in MK now and will travel to get one tonight, as its sitting on the mechs ramp with a lot of cars queing up behind it! does anyone have a 16mm just in case its the othe way round.

I ordered the 16mm and specified my year and model of 626 from Probestore, but it looks like I've got the wrong one, or there is something quite different about my car!

This would happen the day before i'm due to drive to Scotland!

lol, would you believe it, the pump on the 626 is a 32mm, the new one is 16mm. Mechanic was referring to the bolt holes, the pitch is different and the pulley wouldn't fit, how stupid of Mazda is that! All sorted now had to buy a new pump from motoserve! I'm exhausted a long journey to Manchester land for a pulley I already, but the cup of tea was worth it! Thanks for all the help Mark (MX6 Addict)!
