Question What is this - an O2 sensor ?

Hi Guys,

I have been meaning to ask you tecchies this for some time.

Here is a foto.

Nothing is wrong with the performance of BaBaKa whatsoever, in fact she is as smooth as silk and pulls like a train.

There is a bit of oil mist residue around the rubber seal which my Mazda dealer said should be fine but can always be replaced at some future date.

Cheers

Paula

Might be an idea to change it then as the car has done 108K?

What do you think Dave?

Change what? PCV gromit or Lamda?

2 lamda's and wouldn't touch them or the gromit if your not having any trouble. Grommit is a bitch to get out by the way.

The valve you can test by trying to blow into it, if you can't get any air through it's fine.

Hi Dave,

Many thanks .....

Now I know what it is, I looked in my Haynes Manual and found this:

Just been speaking to my American friend Claire in Wisconsin to wish her a Happy Birthday and she said " I am surprised that someone who knows a lot about cars does not know what a PCV valve is !!! " .....

She can just about fix anything on a car .....

I will check it out in the morning.

Nite

Paula

PS. Just saw this on YouTube:

If the valve is not faulty then I will pick one up when I go back to the USA next year.

Silly price as usual.

Hi Paula
another test for your pcv is to shake it and see if it rattles if it rattles it is fine, you could change your pcv and grommet if you wish it has done a few miles it will safeguard against future problems but personally if it's running ok i would leave it alone.

Hi Dave,

Oh dear ...

I thought that my rear droplinks were worn until I discovered what it was that caused the knocking sound.

See: http://www.mx6.com/forums/united-kin...eeeeeeeee.html (Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!)

Good luck in the morning, will be thinking of you...

Let us know how you got on when you have a chance.

Nite again

Talking about Claire,

She is amazing around cars and doing serious maintenance and construction work in her home and garden.

Her late Father owned a good old fashioned family garage with workshop and pumps in Wausau, Wisconsin, USA and as soon as Claire was old enough, she was put ' On the Tools '.

She owned the same models as these cars in the 60's and 70's that we looked at in June when we visited the Haynes Museum near Sparkford on the A303.

Ford Thunderbird

Ford Thunderbird - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ford Fairlane

HowStuffWorks "1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner"

She can take engines, gearboxes apart etc and put them back together again.....

Clever girl .....

Wish she lived near here .....
