Rear suspension

Hi i replaced my drivers side rear drop link as there was lots of play on the drop link and i was getting rear clunk and squeaking noise over rough roads and speed bumps, and wasn't easy to get off so used a grinder and cut it off.
The clunking noise is gone but still get a squeak on rough roads and speed bumps i did check the arb bushes while under the car they look OK and no play so wondering if anyone got any ideas what this could be.

can you get it to squeak if you push down on the rear corners of the car, like an mot test would do on the shocks? You might have a dry/leaking shock at the back as I doubt its the ARB.

You could try wd40 on the joints etc underneath as you can get in there fairly easily without jacking the car up.

I tried pushing down on corners and no squeak also gave everything a good soaking of wd40 but still get squeak not as bad since i changed drop link maybe i will change rear left one as well but it sounds like rear right to me.

this is true Paula, but like with anything, bolt on a nice new part and your old car becomes like new again!

Thanks for info spring sounds about right and a expensive fix so probably not worth it.
I do believe that silicone spray is good on rubber suspension components so probably give that a try.

Does that answer your question?

If you need a spring I have one you can have. I would suggest that you change the other drop link first, as the action of the new one acting on the ARB, could cause the same noise from the other side.

92 Red, 100k mint, new gearbox, clutch, flywheel, RS Decat, 18" MVK's, Green stuff pads, DVD twin screens, full CAI, EBC drilled and grooved discs, boat loads of Meguiars, need nitro LOVE IT!
