well, in the south of france at the mo, 35 degrees in the shade!!!, drove from aberdeen... so far 1400 miles.. and the car is superb.. doing really well, getting to 120 mph at about 5000 rpm, dont really want to go further tho, but its enough...
however, i got the air con gas filled on sunday 9th and its died yesterday!!! it lasted 7 days!! so angry, cause its so hot!
kwikfits computer printed a reading saying it was 100% good, so why has it started to fail? i know they will have an excuse and not refund me, but really i want cold air!!
any suggestions to what it could be??
sunny greetings.
ps, i saw a rather nice 6 in red in france.. only one ive seen yet.

i know its obvious, but it is either a leak, or something has blown. check the little blue filler cap on the air con pipes, is it on correctly? Mine wasnt, and its empty...
thanks, ill check...... can u give me a clue where it is.? :-)
i can get it maybe refilled tomorrow at a local garage.. how am i gonna seek revenge on kwikfit tho?
Kwikfits policy is that if its blowing cold air when you leave then its job done. If you have a failing system, pump, pipework, leaks, stuffed condensor etc then its your fault, not theirs.
Always be wary of places that offer a service but dont carry out repairs or have replacement parts. Kwikfit dont fix aircon systems, only refill AFAIK.
I had mine done 2 weeks ago, by a mate. He has a portable machine that does a vac test before filling but even then you get leaks. After filling they have to go round looking for the dye with an ultraviolet light, and if a leak shows they draw out the re-fill and refuse to do it but i'm not sure if Kwikfit do this.
Dont get it refilled unless its leak tested 1st, otherwise its going to get expensive.

Kwik Fit dont-you have to have a previously working system, they just fill it up but dont do the proper checks and tests. I was going to take mine in, but I dont even know if my system works, so i decided its better to take it to a proper place, so anything that can be fixed, will be fixed.
the valve I am thinking of is on the left as you look on the engine, little blue/black cap sticking off the silver air con pipe at an angle. sort of opposite the oil dip stick, just check that is screwed on properly...
You're correct there Clive. Theres also a cap on top of the condensor that looks the same and is worth checking. They cap off the schraider type valves but I would think that if the valve is leaking it would get past the cap anyway.
Even tho the machine Paul used on mine was a portable thing it did a good job. Takes about half an hour or more to do a system drain and test, then refill. Then theres a visual inspection after that with UV light.
A volvo that was in before me passed the vac test and was refilled but leaked at the condenser so they had to drain it/recover the gas back to the machine and ring the owner.

Yeah, you're right there Stuart.
My stepson gave my aircon the full works and a clean bill of health. His garage has a portable Sun system. Takes about 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour to complete. The Kwikfit aircon fills and £40-£50 jobs that some garages do are a con. The system may be full, but whether it works or not isn't checked.
cheers.. well the print out at kwikfit said 100% good... so ill check the valves. but i will be giving them hell when im back.. regardless if they refund me.
so i wonder if its pointless getting it sorted abroad.
really paula, why dont u go anymore? we are in aix en provence, not far from manosque, but heading to the beaches tomorrow at toulon, all the sites around st tropez are booked. so hot.. need aircon!!!!!!
might just pay 49 euros to get it done here, see what happens.
i see londons peeking a woooping 21 degrees today!!!..
