Unhappy Looking like I have to sell the 6

Yup, you heard me correctly, I might have to sell the mx6.

Work has dropped off over the last week or so and I just cant afford to keep it unless it picks up quickly. Its an asset I have money tied up in that would have to be sacrificed. Paul cant afford to take it on right now otherwise he would as he's put a lot of work into it, but the time isnt right.

Want to try and gauge some interest as to what its worth, so feel free to reply. I've put it in the main section rather than it getting lost in the for sale section for now.

Standard stuff

1996 P Reg, Noble Green II, 167,000 miles,
160bhp @ 200nm Torque (proven)
0-60 in 6.8 (video to prove)
Grey cloth interior in excellent condition
Mot'd on Friday til 4th Sept 2010
Tax til November
Wads of history around here somewhere
Remote central locking alarm
Aircon serviced and re-gassed 3 weeks ago
Feel free to check the reg etc.

Stereo
Kenwood Mask rotating headunit and 4x 180w Pioneer 3 way speakers
Wiring in the boot for a sub/amp that I might put back in.
Needs a cd changer and lead as its only a tape headunit
Electric aerial WORKS

Modifications (here we go)

Outside -
Espace front splitter
Debadged bonnet
LSI side pods
J-spec rear brake light
J-spec rear light conversion
Smoked side repeaters

Wheels/suspension -
Lowered 30mm on standard shocks (bit bouncy)
17" 5 spoke alloys with decent tyres + 2 spare Continental tyres

Engine -
2.5 KLDE V6
De-cat
Rage DTM backbox (loud)
Induction filter
Red Uprated Fuel pressure regulator
Red Megalead HT leads and NGK plugs
Polished Inlet and rocker cover
Polished stainless battery, brake fluid and fusebox cover
Red annodised filler cap
Banjo bolt mod
New complete cambelt kit, tensioner and water pump being fitted TODAY

Brakes
Brand new disks and Mintex pads fitted less than 1000 miles ago.
All calipers serviced and painted
Goodrich braided hoses all round
Spare set of front pads included

Interior
Custom shortshifter (also have the standard one if needed)
Blue LED lighting
Blue LED gauges and glow mod
Momo race steering wheel and hub with Mazdaspeed logo
Blue LED soft touch heater control panel
MX6 Mats
Stainless sill plates
Datatool progressive shift light
J-spec dash surround with coin tray
Working oil pressure, oil temp and volt gauges

Now i'm not going to flower it up and make out that the car is perfect coz it isnt. The main thing that needs doing is the drivers rear 1/4 needs painting as it doesnt match the rest of the car. I have 3/4 of a litre of paint here for it, it just needs doing. Theres also a bit of laquer peel near the rear spoiler, a scuff on the front bumper and various little niggles (front bumper could do with a makeover).

I'm also not going to make out that the car is driven like a vicar on a milkfloat. I enjoy this car, but I dont hammer it, too much work has gone it to be driving it like a lunatic, but I dont hang about either. Having said that, the dyno chart proves the engine has been well cared for. I even have the pics of when the cam covers were off and its golden in there.

The wheels could use a little TLC as the fronts have some kerb marks but overall the wheels and tyres are good, plus I have a pair of nearly new Continental 17" tyres as spares.

Despite servicing the brakes nearly 3 times they still squeek so I think new anti rattle clips are needed.

The suspension came off Gerrys car and is basically lowering springs on standard shocks but this makes the rebound on the car a tad excessive. Its not bad, but it takes a bit of getting used to and isnt a pro set-up. TBH, it makes the car lowered but not a brutally hard ride.

The engine is strong, doesnt smoke and is making good power for its age/mileage. Its been serviced since I got it and is getting a complete cambelt kit, new tensioner and water pump tonight (7th Sept).

More pics available on request (trust me I have hundreds!)

Price wise, I'm gonna put a guideline price of £1300 ono on it as this is what I think its worth, based on the fact its had £300+ spent on it since Friday. I dont want to break it as getting the money in dribs and drabs wont help me and I wouldnt have the heart to.

If anyone is interested let me know. You're welcome to come and view it, drive it etc etc.

Hi Stu,

This is terrible news.

I am so sorry hun.

This would make an ideal car for someone on here especially those who do Trackdays.

Dave (Davidos12) might be a taker.

Have you pm'd him.

Thanks Paula, its was not really designed to be a track car, more of a fast road car or unique MX6 with character and benefits of uprated parts where possible.

Hi again Stu,

Fair enough hun but it could be used on a track if a new owner wanted to, I suppose.

Gerry asked me if I took BaBaKa on the circuit at Trax yesterday.

I said to him " No Way with some of the Chavs on there ".

Ben will tell us all a story, I am sure, about what happened to one of them.

I said to Gerry that I stick to driving quickly and efficiently on the Public Highway when it's safe so to do.

Little bit too out of my price range I'm afraid, looks lovely though Stu and a great shame if you do have to sell. Hope work picks up for you.

do you think its worth me Ebaying it?

I'm going through a very tough time at the moment, both financially and emotionally so I have to sell the car to stay on top of things. I dont think Autotrader is the place to advertise it as they tend to be more standard cars on there, although we have had good results on there in the past.

Fed up completely. My life is in tatters at the moment and its nothing to do with the car, but its money tied up that I have to use on other things.

To be honest Stu - I say keep the car.

If you're in a tough place emotionally and financially, selling the car will help neither. Yes it will give you a few hundred quid more, and stop you from spending money on it, but it will strip you of an emotional asset (shutting down a pride point) and mean more expenditure in the future.

You need another point of action. Whatever the problem is, deal with it another way. There are lots of ways to make money in the short term as well - I know it sounds silly, but have a read on the net about doing this.

I also have to agree, I was in a tightspot as made redundant and sold the 6 as was a second car. Really wish i had kept hold of it as I had put alot of time and effort into putting it right which I'll have to do all over again when i finally get myself another. That is unless I can find a perfect one for peanuts :-)

Hang in there mate 'm sure it will all come good in the end, fingers crossed.

Dave

Hi Stu,

While relaxing in the bath just now ( I always do most of my thinking in there ), nearly two years ago I had financial worries.

I was going to donate my beloved GTI Metro right away to Haynes Motor Museum ( now it's in my will for them ).

That would have been a huge mistake as once it's donated you can't have it back and I would have regretted it forever.

So hang in there chum as it seems that job prospects and work is now improving a little.

Hugs

Paula

Sell the car mate, it's only a car. Get yourself sorted out and in a happy state and enjoy life, hell in 12 months time you might find yourself in the position to buy any car you want.

Your personal happiness is worth more than a poxy car!!!! Get rid of the car, get rid of your debts and put yourself back on the path the happiness.

thanks for the messages guys. Unfortunately my life has been turned upside down this week and I have to share the same opinion as Rich.

Will be setting about selling it on ebay in the next few days although I would have liked it to go to someone on here as a lot of people have seen/driven it for themselves and know the work that has gone into it.

I'll never leave this place and will be getting another 6 when funds allow but for the time being I have to get my life, finances and marriage (or lack of) sorted.

if anyone is interested in making an offer i'm all ears, might even consider breaking it if it generated a sizeable sum.
