i been getting slight dents appearing on the passenger side, normally faces the pavement. today i noticed a new one, not far from the petrol cap, and some of the (grime/mud) was gone around it, like someone has ounched it, and takin any dust off..
I am so careful these days where I park BaBaKa and when I go to Tesco's if they are empty which they usually are at night, I use the Disabled Spaces which gives the car plenty of room.
A few years ago, before I owned an MX6 our street was something of a warzone. Kids around here were mostly teenagers and quite a few belonged to a big family who thought they ran the estate. They used to play football in the turning circle and before we had a drive, this was a huge problem (we're an end house). We had a 1995 Escort TD at the time, followed by a 1997 Rover 420i. Both suffered at the hands and feet of these morons. Ball sized dents and scuffs appeared quite regularly. Eventually we put a drive in and we bought the first of two '97 MX6's. The first took a few knocks before the drive gates were put on and the kids were driven away after a time because we kinda made their lives difficult by keeping a dialogue going with the police. A couple were cautioned, one for assaulting my stepson, who was 15 at the time (not the mechanic), another for criminal damage to our fence, and they drifted away.
So far, this MX6 has escaped that kind of damage, though it has taken a couple of hits from loose chippings. God help any kids who have a go these days, I think I would make their lives hell if they did!
i'm probably regarded as the grumbly old barsteward with a nice car down our way. The kind of kids we have are actually nice kids, but pretty thoughtless (as are most kids this age) but form day one I was on at them about my property, my car, their money if it breaks. I would often tell them off, and if they got cocky, march down to their house, with them following shouting no please no!! made me laugh. Most of those kids are more grown up now (15/16) and they dont go near the car. There some new younger kids that come up now every now and then to play with their friends on our street, i told them off, nicely mind, as their tennis ball hit the bonnet, i had just pulled in and was checking for my "clunk" again. i said "i dont want NO dents on my car, ok?" poor kid, he froze, so when i chucked him the ball back, it hit him in the chest ha ha!! I ALWAYS make sure the kids get a wave tho and a toot toot as I drive past, they alwasy get out of the way nicely and stand on the path, so they know its all ok! i like kids, but I dont like how they can easily damage your car and not care!! I dont have kids of my own, so will never really understand them that well, so I try not to be mean, just firm.
ye, the right approach is to be friendly ish and acknowlege them. but inside says, kick the [shizzle]outta them.. its not a great area, lots of no hopers, temporary accomodation, im planning to move soon-ish.. cant get the dents out tho, damn.
Had the same thing happen, just by the filler cap - never did manage to get it looking 100%.
We caught the little [shizzle], tied him up, blindfolded him, threw him in the back seat and drove him around for a while...whilst talking about dropping him in the canal. He never vandalised another car, locally.
Since were all sharing stories...
The other day i walk out of work on a 5 hour weekend shift, only to find that some... jerk, for lack of better words, had spilled coke all over my driver side and on some of my trunk. This is exactly why i carry a bat in my trunk.
My friend Claire in Wisconsin, USA carries around a canister of pepper-spray in her car and when she is trekking in case she encounters any bears etc .....
