Scream Brakes update

Hi all,
Finally got around to fitting braided hoses on my 6. There's a definite improvement on braking although the pedal still feels a little too soft for my liking. I've bled her (properly) to the point where she porbably thinks she's in ICU or anaemic. It looks like i'll have to settle for what I have but still not that happy. I can't think of anything else save the master cylinder and I really don't wanna go that direction.

Trust me, if you get decent discs and pads, it will make a big difference. Good job on getting the braided lines in though -that's a smart move.

One thing I would say is that braking on these cars always feels soft, but actually isn't. My point being that your suspension takes up alot of the force of braking - get your suspension upgraded to something way harder and you will start to notice just how effective the brakes can be.

Refusing to be beat on this I have been trying different things (my car is lowered and hardened). I found this morning that if I bleed in the normal way -- then re -bleed the right rear the pedal becomes harder and brakes are terriffic ! Has anybody else found this ? Downside of this is that the brake light comes on in the dash when braking !

Ahhh I see what you've done now.

Unfortunately this is a mistake that a lot of people make. The brake lines on the MX-6 are crossovers - if you bleed from the master, it only gets half the system. There's usually a lot of air trapped in the other section. So well done, you've figured it out and got it sorted.

The brake light comes on because it also acts as a warning light for low braking fluid. The sensor is in the reservoir, and all you have to do is simply fill it up as much as is sensibly possible. That stops it. You've gotten rid of a lot of air by the sounds of it, so the system is now holding more fluid.
