Hi all, well as the title says I broke my car (Whoops), I replaced the nearside wishbone and drop link and overlooked tightening the pinch bolt around the ball joint on the wishbone, this resulted in me reversing out of my car parking space at home to give it a quick test drive, I got 2 meters before the ball joint popped out of place and with the weight of the car pulled the driveshaft out of the gear box and emptied gear box oil all over my drive, *%ck %*it..... this was three weeks ago and the car is now sitting outside my house on jack stands, I have tried to relocate the driveshaft back into the gear box but as the suspension has dropped I am going to have to take the whole hub assembly apart to fix it......
The reason for this post is that I now need either to be given some advise on fixing this along with a bit of moral support as I have lost interest in the car after this happened or should I break it down?
it is a 1997 R plate with a full service history in silver, it has 130,000 on the clock and has had two cambelt changes at the relevant times done by mazda, it was owned by a lady up until 120,000 and all the work she had done was by the main dealer as far as the paperwork shows, and the grey leather has all the piping in place and no wear on the drivers bolster, the body work is good overall but it has a few car parking dents plus a small piece of rust over the back drivers arch,
I had a Noble green 6 before this one and much preferred that color so am looking to get another in Noble green, the question is, Fix this one and sell it to buy a Noble green one? break this one and buy a Noble green one? or does any one have a noble green one they would like to swap if I can get this one fixed?
really not sure what to do so please feel free to give me some inspiration.
Sorry about that rant but I do need to sort this out asap so any suggestions and advise would be greatly appreciated,
well, I say fix it mate. I dont really know the extent of yoru repair, but i had a bad one a while back, JOhn will tell you-broken engine mount bolts. Bolts were snapped off IN the engine block, engine was resting on the pulley wheels. Well, like you I was feeling pretty bad, and figured I would get rid. But John and everyone here helped me out, and yes, it was really hard for me to fix, and took a LONG time to drill out those bolts, helicoil and put it all back together, but when I did it, well, I am still driving it now and its never been better.
your problem sounds bad, but I bet its not so hard to fix? And if you do, you have an excellent example to sell on or swap for a Noble Green one.
What you need now is help from the guys that know how to fix these issues, or perhaps its worth getting some quotes in for the work done?
Likewise... I can pop up to Ben's and come over with him.

There are still technical minded individuals here, and there is definitely a wealth of knowledge contained in all sections of this site. As for the banned members, it is not one or two people that make up a community but the membership on a whole. Besides, the banned were removed due to blatant and continual rule breaking. A shame really, but rules are rules and should be applied to all equally. Saying the forum is less useful is incorrect. Others will come in to lead the community from your side of the pond I am sure. There are some great members still around.

Hi Freak
Long time. There's been a lot going on with members being banned etc. Yes there have been members kicked off but I hope another community will appear here.
I agree with what you say about the forum being less useful. We used to be able to rely on greats such as Einstien, Russel and Oddball for an almost instantaneous reply to any query. They pop in now and again but their daily inspiration has gone from the forum... that's when things started going downhill for even if there is a wealth of knowledge in our database - for sure, that's no substitute for someone taking the time to personally reply to your query.
Oh by the way. Have you got any pics on how you converted the new aeriel to the older style car's electrics? Mark told me you did this and I've got the same prob but I'm a noob with electrics lol
Good to see you again.
