Pads

How much life is everyone getting out of their Green Stuff Pads?

Had mine fitted in early Jan(along with ebc standard discs), and their doesn't appear to be much left, I wouldn't say I was a heavy on the breaks, but this is a little much!!

Fitted mine on Sunday - I guess theres still some life left in them :-)

3 months is a bit short - how many miles ? I would have hopped for 15-20K !!

About 4k which seems like nothing. The standard pads that were on the when I got it in May last year, lasted a good 12k and still had life in them after that!

They have a shorter life but dont damage the disk half as much as standard pads do because they are softer. I managed to get about 7k out of mine but thats going down the lanes to work everyday which is hard on any car.

You could always check you havent got a sticky caliper as that could cause you to go through them quiet quickly. And what disks are you using???

If the EBCs are grooved then they are likely to eat your pads faster too. Did you say you had your std pads on EBC discs and still got 14K+?

I am thinking of adding Mark 626GT to my ignore list

Blue youll hear them when they go theyve got an early warning system !!! Sounds great basically a little metal tab hits your disc befor the pad wears out and makes a horrible noise - still nice to have.

Sorry, I should have been more clear I've got the standard EBC discs as opposed to the full on Turbo set.
I've noticed a slight judder come off the motorway, but wouldn't have though it enough to wear my pads out so soon.

Question, the anti-rattle shims, can these be done away with or do you need to get replacement set, when changing pads?

Just thinking maybe my local mechanic didn't read the box "Please do not attempt to fit shims from worn pads onto these units, which will cause an overthickness situation resulting in pad drag" hence the rapid wear?

Jamo the instructions are a little confusing - Ive fitted mine "without" the antirattle shims - The old ones are actually attached to the pads ! ( never seen that befor they usually just clip ot the pads ) anyway after re reading the box several times i decided that it meant dont fit them ( as u cant then no issue really )

When you say worn down - are they scraping on the disc or just look a little low - how much in mm would you say is left on the pad ?

Probably no more than a few mm. although the pads only appear to be about 7mm when new. Strange though looking at the new pads, I'm sure the previous set were thicker, although could be the mind playing tricks on me again!
