Damage update

Hi Guys

I would of posted this last night but I was updating my computer and it went tit's up.

Anyway I got the quote from my local garage, but before I tell you all the price.

Has anyone got any idea what a back bumper would cost for the 626?

To say I was shocked

Well, I paid just over £300 for one for the Boxster, but I guess that was a good price.

Around £5-600 seems probable, but I bet it's more!

Mike your bumper valance i'd say is about £1000 all in.

Knowing how much it cost my insurance company last year after the drunk total my front. Car worth £3500 (top book) claim = £2750

with all the associated costs its starts to become border line with the insurance companys on whether to write off older cars.

come on lets us into the bad news

Well Thats what I thought 5-600 quid and I even told the guy and he said your not far wrong there.

When I picked up the quote Tue night it was for £853 all in.

Paint and sundries £114
New bumper £162
Labour £450
Total £726
vat £127.05
gross £853.05

Do you think I should query the price of the bumper?

No way!
If he's quoted that, let him do the job for the money.
I would have thought about £500 myself, just for the bumper, let alone the labour....

We are just talking about the bumper here right - usually about 4 bolts !!

Sounds like a pretty expensive removal tool - about 100 pounds per bolt

( Ok so theyve gotta paint in in that cost too but even so ! )

The bumber sounds REALLY cheap however ! And the insurance will be paying i assume

Hope you get it sorted was looking sweet befor ( and theres not many 626's id say that about )

Hi Mike

Just got mine back tonight nice new bumper @- ,

now i don't know what these people wanted to do the job but i did get 2 quotes from other places

And my bumper cost £408
bumper bar £94
paint don't know
labour 2 hours £100

all in both places where £100 of a diff

£659
and
£769

now how they get your bumper for just over a £100 god knows
you do have a dent in rear quarter panel so more labour there
but nearly £500 is a little much for me.

Andy

Unlike ford, that fill the bumper with foam.. ours are just plastic.

I took mine off when I painted it.. think about 8 nuts, and the skirts from the body kit (rusted self tappers)

It could be cheap, as it's as light as a feather, just moulded plastic.

The quote was for the whole job ie: repair the dent replace new bumper and respray bumper and rear quarter.

I looked at a site in the states that sell body parts and you can get a rear bumper there for about $150 so I guess there not that expensive.

The bumper was only nicked at the top side and not a total bash in. the inner part of the bumper that takes any impact is about the same price.

Anyway just waiting on the forms to come down from head office they said there's no promlem and there get it sorted ASP.

Not soon enough for me

Oh and G thanks what can I say
