Thumbs up Introduction

Hi Y'all,
Thought I'd better take this opportunity to introduce myself, as a couple of you have already noticed my skulking around this forum in the background.
I have just become (yesterday) the proud owner of my first MX6 - and still have the grin from ear to ear to prove it!! I purchased the black 6 with the HUGE pipe yesterday - '95 on an N, leather, and with a cable tie holding the rear anti roll bar up on the passenger side (Do I hear the sound of money leaving my pocket already?......). The exhaust has got to go as well - just a wee bit too noisy for me - so if anyone is interested - make me an offer...............(I feel that my "Boy racer" days are well behind me now!)
Well, that's all for now, just thought I'd better put a car to the name............and by the way - ANOTHER SCOT - just trying to even the numbers up a wee bit!

Cheers

Graeme

Well Graeme

Let me be the 1st to welcome you to the board sir , better coming from another SCOT than was off our English freinds .

Although we have already talked in pm's, hope the car is running good, oh something else you aren't from Dalkeith or went through there the other day, as a m8 saw a black 6 with a HUGE tailpipe, and for sale sticker on the windows ?.

Anyway the rest of the crowd here are like i said in my pm a real helpful bunch to be honest ,and anything you need to know we have a couple members here you do really know this car inside out, just ask Graeme.

Andy

P.S.

Hi storm and welcome.

Nice to see you have been wondering when you would post as we have a few reading only members.

OK to the rear drop link and the first of what I hope will be the money saving post for you.

The rear anti-roll bar I take it the drop link has failed. Well go find your nearest Nissan dealer and ask for the drop link of a 1990 micra half the price of Mazda and ford. Fit perfect just make sure you buy new nuts too.

Cheers

Dave

Shame you cant make it to TRAX (or can you ?)

Hi Graeme, welcome to the boards mate..

Hope youre enjoying your new 6.. Its a really lovely car. Went on holiday recently to the mountains in Spain and hired a new Vectra out there for the week. By the time I got back, I couldnt wait to get back in the 6 again..

How much are you offering your exhaust for? Post a pic if u can so we can have a look..

Anyway, enjoy, and if there is anything you need to ask, just go right ahead..

Cheers!

Hi Storm, welcome to MX6.com

Honest, we're a friendly enough bunch here - despite what a certain other Scottish member may tell you to the difference.

Hope you can make it to Trax - it'd be nice for Andy to have some backup. Not that he needs it, he's more than capable of looking out for himself...

Again, welcome

Ken

Cheapskate fix required

Ok, guys, try this one:

When in my local Ferrari garage discussing secret mods, they told me that my front head gasket is leaking (which is true, you can see staining on the header), and that they can replace it while they're doing the other work on the car.

They said that if I'm doing the front, I may as well do the rear, and replace all plugs as it's a pain to get to the rear ones just for replacing the plugs.

Is there somewhere to get the parts cheap for this job? (gaskets, etc). Is there a cheap and easy way to do this, or should I just let them get on with it?

I know where to get spark plugs!

Hi Graeme,

I've got a standard rear box in good condition needing a home, it may need minor adjustment to fit as I reused the brackets and welded them onto the new dtm back box but it's yours if you want it ?

I'll be going to trax, you can collect it from there.

Doh!!!!
I now wish that I had waited another day before replacing the drop links - both sides had gone - Mazda price - £99.98 the pair - (including VAT of course!!!) Ah well, at least I know the Nissan Micra ones fit for next time...........................

As far as the exhaust goes, my mechanic has advised me to go back to the place that built it, and see if they are prepared to cut off the tailpipe and weld on a double pipe to the back box - I'll find out if they are amenable to this idea over the weekend no doubt, if not it's a new s/s back box.

I thank you all for your warm welcome and look forward to all the good advice that I will no doubt be requiring (car needs a bit of work - including getting a new key cut - immobiliser one I believe - £35 + programming - Lordy, will it ever end..........)

Interesting fact - have verified that the car is UK - but it is fitted with the Jap front bumper and square plate - unusual?

Storm - What makes you think its a jap bumper - As far as i was aware there is no difference int he actual bumper ?

As for square plate - a couple of us have them - mine because my number plate holder got removed by a friendly branch in the outside lane of the motorway !

So come on then hows this bumper differ ?

Was just something my wee mechanic said - he reckoned that it was originally an import car "because it has the Jap bumper with the square plate on it"
Mind you - he didn't know the one about the Nissan Micra anti roll bar bushes - and you guys did - guess where I'm coming for advice!!!!!!

Cheers
