Thumbs up Crail+MX6+Astra Estate=Great Fun!!

Hello to all and in particular to Andy (Think thats your name).

I was the guy with the Astra Estate at crail on sunday just thought i'd say hello. I have been watching the video and having a good laugh!! 4-2 to you was the final score i think?!?

I put in my quickest times at the end of the day so it must have been you changing gear quicker rather than me slowing down!!

I ended up running a 16.72. I'll have to see what else i can take out the car to lighten it up for next time!!

I'll see you around.

Martin.

I talked to Martin, and it was an old estate he was running stripped out it was really bog standard 1.8 sri engine had some stuff done to the chip in the ecu, other than that it was standard.

I'm trying to get some video i shot off it onto the comp, and Martin has some as well which i am trying to get him to send me as Cornish ( Mike) has kindly offered to host it for me.

My mate had an Astra SRI which was chipped and used to pull quite well. We later converted it to a GTE running a 2.0 8v Cav SRI 130BHP Engine and to be honest there wasnt much difference. We all thought the 1800 had more torque.

Well

To be honest i was suprised when this old astra estate pulled up to the line next to me , and when we went down the track i was even more suprised that it was staying with me, and beat me twice, there was another little Honda Civic 1.6 VTEC think about a 91/92 Reg, which i lined up against and we filmed, and this little thing to put it nicely creamed me from start to finish.

Driver said only decat and intake.

Those V-tec engines are great. They rev really high.. A mate of mine at work has a Civic Vti .. It does indeed shift..

Hello again.

The Astra is an '89 1800 LXi estate. Lowered 40mm, 15's with toyo tyres, and modified ecu. I've also removed the back box which has been replaced with a length of pipe!! Everything inside from the front seats back, has been taken out.
Out of the factory i think they produced 118bhp & I had a standard one before on the road and managed to reach 128mph but i'm not sure about 0-60 figures.
But this car is getting old, so am having some fun with it before it dies!! Wouldn't mind getting another one, maybe with a 16v from the cavvy. We shall see.
Either way it seems to be an attenion grabber, especially when it sees off the likes of MX6's!! Hehehe.
Cheers Andy for putting up the pics!! I do have some of my own but am not sure how to get them on here??
Bye for now,
Martin

The guy said it was a VTEC, but it's a K Reg so it would be a VTi which is what they put in that year and is diff i think from the VTEC the VTi produces 160 BHP standard, and with a decat and intake, and stripped out this would be a fast little car m8, ouch!!
