No - Not Cool Ken
I thought it was only crusie who was able to breake the V6

Hope you get it sorted - Ive finally found a JSpec in a scrappy but a few bits have already gone from the engine so only useful if you need the ECU or a part.

What a [shizzle]ter !!

Sorry to hear that mate. I've done a couple of engines in my time, Mk1 Golf Gti, E30 BMW 318iS, and it is definately NOT cool !!
Hope you sort a new one soon, if not, I'm sure with the amount of parts you have you'll get around 2K if you broke it on here - probably more !!

I'm only saying what everyone else was thinking !! (as the Vultures slowly circle above, waiting for the banquet layed out beneath them ) I'd rather see it fixed though

!!See Ken you mess with an RX7 and this is what happens

Try these guys in Banbury.

http://www.apiengines.com/frame2.htm

Last year, they quoted me £2k for an MX6 Jap import, recon, low mileage, bench tested engine. Obviously doesn't include fitting. They have pretty good reputation & give you a 12 month warranty.

Good luck mate

And the quotes come rolling in...

8 so far, ranging from £500 +vat + delivery for an 85,000 mile engine to £695 +vat +delivery for a "low mileage" imported engine. Most seem to do a 3 month warranty.

One place wants £895 +vat +delivery for a standard 45,000 engine - yeah right!

Ken

PS, RB, I was hardly messing with it - I knew there was no way I'd ever keep up, so didn't exactly try that much.

Latest I've been offered is an imported JSPEC engine, 40-45,ooo miles, tested and cleaned, 3 months warranty for £500 plus £30 delivery, plus VAT. (£623)

What are the major pitfalls when converting to JSPEC? (Where's Kyle when I need him most? )

Ken

That last one seems a good deal,BUT you got to remember IF you do go the JAP way that most places that sell engines, they do NOT include the monifolds, and all the rest of the bits and bobs.
So if you go JAP then you'll need the manifold, ecu,and anything else not on the UK spec car m8, Dave and G And John will know what else you'll need for the jap change over.

Ken San, If this makes you feel any better I was over taking a grandad a few years ago, got along side then !pop! power starts to drop and I cough and wheeze all the way home. New engine city.

I know how you feel it's one big, bummer. But by the sounds of it my suggestion of API was the most expensive. Seems to be plenty of cheap engines out there.
Once again good luck.

Just checked the link to that car Roland - when you go to the garage site it shows the car actually at 72,000 miles.

After getting a quote of £1300 labour to fit the engine (an indy garage) I'm now seriously looking at scrapping this one and getting another. If I can find a decent 6 I'll transfer all the bits across from this one. If not it may just have to be something else...

£1300 labour when you said an INDY garage m8 your not meant to go to the local RR garage sir, jesus we use t throw engines in for 200 squid, hmm maybe thats why i am poor .

Andy
PS
