Should be fine - However your immobiliser wont drain your battery in 3 weeks ! Just leave it connected.....

Is it connected to an alarm aswell ?

leaving car for three weeks

Get someone to run the engine and maybe take the car for a walk on a weekly basis.

Get a battery conditioner (this keeps the battery topped up and the classic people swear by them).

Get a new battery which should happily maintain your six for the next three weeks.

Without an alarm it will be fine. The only thing drawing any current is the clock.

Are you leaving it at home or at an airport ?

Disagree Ian - It takes at least 30 minutes of driving ( no lights ) to replace the energy taken from a battery at startup.

battery replenishment

one 1.6kW starter for 5 seconds = 8000 joules

one 85 ampere alternator @12V = 1020 watts

so time taken to recharge battery = 8000 /1020 = 7 minutes 51 seconds

This assumes alternator is running at full capacity for this time, which is unlikely if all hekokimushi's friend is doing is pootling around the block.

Therefore I concede you are probably right.

chequer's punishment

WILL BE ETERNAL HELLFIRE ..........

For getting minutes and seconds mixed up.

I.e 7.85 seconds to get the battery back up to the same state it was in prior to starting..

That's it Ian.

Say goodbye.

Good idea about the battery conditioner though.
Those ones that sit on the dash and plug into the cigar lighter would do OK - if the MX6 didn't need the ignition turned on for the damn thing to be in circuit!!!
