oh yea one more obvious thing that i wanted to point out...alot of american cars are bigger than japanese cars...meaning a bigger engine would be reasonable, its not like americans are making a civic a v-8... but hey, some people just cant learn what makes a car good

Speed is great...until you crash...speed safely.

You are completely wrong, Infact it is impossible to be more incorrect. GT3hardass has already told you, but for some reason you arent listening. Your facts are backwords. It was a Cobra R and is absolutely not supercharged, that is straight up wrong, you are thinking of the 2003 Cobra SVT which is not what they tested. The Elise was the one that was NOT stock, they dropped a better, hi-performance engine in there and then tested it against the BONE STOCK mustang. And SCC DID NOT do everything else to make it fast, it was completely stock, they did however do everything to make the Elise faster including replacing the entire engine.
I totally agree with everything everyone has said here in response to SilverLS's comments, so I wont bother reposting them. If Karma was still around, his would be pretty low by now.

No more lies about the Mustang vs. Elise article. The Elise wasnt stock it was a "Sun International's Integra Type R-powered Lotus Elise." Here is the article. Read it before making up anything else about it.

[b]OK child lets sit down for a moment. I really didnt want to get into this argument cuz i figured you would stop talking after you were proven wrong. (im not normaly an ass like this, but hes just really stupid). Lets take the 5.0 and Slap on Flowmasters and some performance headers.....the GSR would be toast. Ok next...lets Supercharge the GSR and supercharge the 5.0....ONCE AGAIN the GSR is toast. You are the one that told us not to compare V8's with I4's!!!!but you went and did it ne way didnt ya? It does not matter where a car is made, If the car has a strong engine and is fast then its good car, why give a **** where it was made? You really need to do research before you claim that you are into cars, cuz damn kid, you threw out some bad ****. I would rather listen to my sister talk about cars than you, at least she doesnt argue with me about stuff she doesnt know. I am dissapointed to know that you own the same car as me, you put the car lovers community to shame. So i think you need to take a little time out and think about what everyone has said to you, then maybe come back and talk to the educated people that represent this site.

yes i did say not to.... it just proves my point more that u actually can compare a car with a way smaller engine to be in the same category as a V-8... And the only way the 5L would be faster than the GSR after superchargin is if it was faster before you supercharged it.. Imports get way mor eout of mods than american cars.. Did u read my other post about me not caring about where it was made.. it just matters if the engine is good.. and a mustang has a ****ty engine.. less than 50hp/L

It has a stock type R engine man.. its not bored out or changed in any way.. just a j-spec type R engine i beleive... You got me on the supercharged thing, but they did add .4L to the mustang.. Bone stock is not the word that comes to mine when i think of a mustang Cobra R.. remember the .4L, that means it has been changed from the stock 5L... among other upgrades .. who knows

Anyway.. i think i made my point when i asked if anyone can name an american car with a 4cylinder or 6 cylinder engine that either makes more than 100hp/L N/A or is faster than an RSX type S.. since the type S has a 2.0L and the smallest american sports car engine is 2L neon i think its way more than fair and someone should have been able to name a 4 or 6 even with bigger displacement, but they couldnt, because all american 4 and 6 cylinder engines suck.. if its not v-8 they cant make it fast.. end of conversation...

i read the article.. and it just goes to prove my point.. i love that article.. LOL, the damn mustang was even 5.4L, They had to make it bigger to make it faster.. And yes, the engine was a stock type R engine 1.8L.. with your post i thought u were trying to say i was wrong.. but the article says im right.. from the article

"Despite our best red-blooded American efforts and every launch method in the book, the Cobra would not run better than 13.36 at 106 mph. Averaging our best two runs (as is our standard) produced a 13.4-second run at 108 mph. This left us puzzled, as we've seen numerous tests of this car with acceleration times at least two-tenths quicker.

So we switched directions, thinking the slight headwind was causing a problem. Nothing. We even moved to a different location hoping of finding better grip off the line. Still nothing. We're not sure if it was the heat, the grip or the car, but on that day, the Cobra just wouldn't go any quicker. The Lotus, however, would. After a few runs to dial in the launch, the Elise put its 192 hp to the ground with only a squeak from the R-compound Yokohamas and stormed its mid-engine chassis through the traps in 12.6-seconds at 110 mph.

The more tests we performed, the more obvious it became which car was faster."

If you define "better" in terms of bhp/L, then you are more than likely right that most japanese cars are "better" than most US cars. The problem is that no one else apparently defines "better" in hp/L, myself included. Because hp/L is basically a worthless spec.

not just in hp/L, there are so many things that are better i have a hard time naming them all to you, that is why this thing is 4 pages long.. LOL

quality of engine is another reason i like imports better.. bring me a factory american V-6 that redlines at 7,000rpm and can be run at 8,000rpm.. (my 6)... or lets look at the S2000.. 9,000rpm redline.. Even the best built american engine would be destroyed by 8,000.. and everyone knows about reliability.. that is why an acura is still worth 1/2 of what it was bought new for 7 years later.. while an american has lost all value and is worth.. well worth nothing to me, i wouldnt buy one.. After the first 3 years american cars are done and its break down time from then on.. My LS is 10 years old and the repairs so far have been A/C, CV boots, Lights, which are all regular maintenance things.. and a 02 sensor.. Im still on factory clutch and brakes....

It was a stock type R engine, not the stock Elise engine. I cant put a corvette engine in my mx-6 and call it stock just because the engine is a stock engine from another car. The 5.4 Liter engine used in the Mustang is in fact a stock engine, not every Mustang engine is a 5.0, in fact they dont even put 5.0's is mustang any more.

(Suzuki LOL) And dont go thinking Yamaha built this whole engine cuz that again would be wrong.

yeah, yamaha.. thats it..

I had a 1988 Chevy Celebrity that my Dad drove till 183,000 miles and gave it to me at 16 yrs old and I drove it till 197,000 miles. Guess how many repairs .... ZERO. 197,000 miles and no repairs & was still running when I sold it at 197,000 miles. Sold it cause I had to go to college.
