Awesome's not the word!!!

I just read the entire article, damn that web address was well spotted Wes!

They say they cut several sets of heads open so they could see how much they could port them - these guys must have some cool info to share

They also say (unfortunately), that it "spat out a crazy 595Kw on 1.9 bar, but the motor just can't handle any more power, so the team is looking into an alternative powerplant."

Does this mean i can buy the KL? haha

Brutal, simply brutal(30+psi). Interesting head design. Quad cam, yet there are only two driven cams. Directly connected geared cams perhaps?

Gavin, your obviously not familiar with the KL engine. Yes it does have internal gears in the head. They did this to reduce the height of the engine. Pretty weird really.

I am just amazed that there is anything standard in a 800HP 2.5 litre motor. Sure is a different ball game to the VW motor's I was used to.

Baja wes...thanks for clearing that up for me. Sounds like an interesting design. Youre right, I havent been fully versed in the workings of the KL(just a humble F2T pilot), but I'm trying to learn more about the newer car.

The thing is that being a AUS production well we like to keep things secret all the info you got from the Article is bascily the most you will get from them.
Mainly becuase the info is worth alot so it's kept secret. Plus they would not like the compatition to know either.

Tru
I can understand keeping some technical secrets

I just want to know why they kept the 2.5ltr bottom end instead of stroking it to a 2.8litre

From what they have done allready they could be 100hpwr stronger with their engineering.

Just wondering.

I think you will find it is still a 2.5litre to comply with regulations. I know that in that series there is a lot of multipliers of capacity for multi-valve engines, and turbo's etc and there is a maximum capacity they can't exceed, which is something like 6 or 7 litres.

Im not sure on the figures, but I have read it before somewhere. That is the reason that many of the competitors run small block chev's, because they make the power and meet the capacity limit.
