I got a stupid traffic ticket in BC while driving to Whistler. The posted speed changed without clear notice and I got picked up at the speed of the last posted sign in a construction zone.
Who is a good paralegal or someone that you would recommend to fight this out there? I can't use someone from Ontario otherwise I would!
Karma for any help. Thanks.

It shouldn't be difficult to fight if there is no clear notice of a speed change.
If there IS clear notice, juse say there was a large truck pulled over on the side of the road, blocking your view of the warning sign.
If you don't feel comfortable fighting this ticket, I suggest hiring a traffic ticket specialist.
There are companies out there devoted to just traffic tickets. such as "pointts".
I'm certain there will be a few companies in BC that could do it for ya.
Good luck!
ME: Oh no you didn't...
DRUNK PearsonMX6: I ddid too's...
Actually paralegals are not allowed to practice in BC, so I'm looking at hiring a lawyer to fight it. In talks with one now but this definitely isn't as easy as Ontario.

Dont bother...
Contest the ticket, claim as mentioned earlier that the sign (whatever/whereever the sign was) posted, was blocked by a truck. When your contest to the 'allegation' is logged and you get your notice to appear, (which could take 1-1.5years), show up in court and there's a VERY good chance, the issuing officer will not show.
He no-show's , and you're off the hook.
Been there, done that, w/regards to a moving violation... (which was dismissed for lack of Crown Council being present).
^Problem with that is I'm from Ontario. The court date (if I choose to take that route) would be in BC and I'm not flying out for just that event. The cost would outweigh what I'd be fighting for.
However I don't want it on my record, so I will fight it, just not in person.

Just go to a driver services building.
Dispute the ticket.
They will have to send you a court date.
When you get the date, you send a friend (they can represent you in court)
If the cop doesnt show up, then you're off.
If he does show up, plead guilty for a lesser fine.
They will give you the 115$ base fine.
Pay it and be done with it.
Any driving infractions over here will not hurt yours at home.

I don't really know anyone out there though.
Also, according to the MTO, they will affect my license here.

...Well, the other option, which may be simplier.. is to just 'fess up' , pay the fine and be done with it.
All the legal mumbo jumbo you'd have to do, would probably cost as much as the ticket.
On my last 'speeding' ticket (which is a rarity).. I basically admitted my guilt and wrote a check. I figured that this ticket was for all the other ones that I probably shouldve gotten if I were caught. Its pretty damn hard Not to speed (the posted limits), when you're headed to a job or whatever. IMO the speed limits are TOO low anyway.. but thats another topic....
Unless your driving record is Poor, this shouldnt have a major impact on your insurance or premiums...
Pay it.. and move on!!

I would, but in Ontario the demerit points will destroy your license. It can be so bad here for a male driver that with only a few points deducted, I would have to sell my car and drive nothing but [shizzle] boxes for the next 5 years to make up for the insurance hike. I'd rather spend $1000 now fighting it then $6000 over the next 5 years ignoring it happened.
