Well I went up to the Barossa Valley today, which is only like 20 minutes away for me
but anyway, I think thats where I will organise the next cruise. I dont know what you people are into, but I took some really good photos etc. And I found one road, which is bloody awesome lol, and I cant wait to attack it with the 626 - Went in my step dads BA Fairmont, so not a lot of fun could be had . Overall I really enjoyed looking at the wineries, (buildings, gardens, etc.) But if everybody just wants hardcore driving then I aint the one to organise a cruise lol. My cruise would be quite laid back, with the odd boost, but Im into scenery. What I was thinking is meeting somewhere like Tea Tree Plaza say 2-3PM on a saturday, cruising up to birdwood, go through mount pleasant, tour the barossa, come back to mount pleasant and take the road to williamstown which is f,kn awesome, and then have a bite to eat at the bakehouse tavern (we all remember that, dont we?) By this time it will be dark, then cruise into gawler and 'chill'.Thoughts? |

Boring :P, i can organise a good scenic route for yas through the northern hills... skip mt pleasant and all that... ya want good rds, go through Kersbrook to williams town then to gawler... :P (my mate lives in KB and so i know a fair few fun roads and he can help with better ones :P oh and 1 more thing... driving in hills during summer, A VERY BAD IDEA unless you have a stomping bullbar, there is heaps of roo's that hurt... b4 i went for chrissy i went to KB to see my mate and nearly collected around 4 of them on my way back to gawler... so yeah, hills + night + summer = Expensive repair bill... but yeah, if anyone else wants to organise a cruise go for it, if ya want i can... EDIT: [shizzle] sorry dude, i just realised how bad that started, i dont mean for you to take offense it's meant to be a joke... Last edited by Selva : 12-27-06 at 7:21. Reason: i made a boo boo |

Well the thing is Selva, we had one cruise must be coming up on 2 years ago now, and it was a catastrophe, The cruise itself was good, and the restuarant we went to was tops. But the driving was out of control, there were so many near misses, someone even went up someones driveway for christs sake. It made me not want to go on an MX6.com cruise again, then we had the williamstown cruise, which AM organised and now that was a cruise. But basically, If im organising a cruise, expect it to be a cruise and not a race. So all I have to say is if you want to go faster, organise your own cruise right now and I wont be coming. Thats the reality, because I do want to "race" but I will be driving 13 minutes to Mallala for that.

Yeah that didnt sound that great Sleva....lol
Im fine with the cruise to a few wineries as i dont get to get to them living up south much, only thoughts are to be different from other cruises in the past and to find a new place to eat at, maybe somewhere at Gawler. |

Sounds great, Dion - you know how I feel about cruising. It's that equation - a nice drive + food = good day out! I do the drive from Adelaide to Eden Valley via One Tree Hill, Mt Crawford, Kersbrook, Williamstown, Springton very regularly and it's quite a nice trip.
If we're thinking about eating/cruising in the Barossa... Angaston Roaring 40s does some REALLY good pizzas and would probably suit the kind of flexible booking arrangement we'd need. The Brauhaus in Angaston is another possibility. In Nuriootpa & Tanunda there are a host of other larger places too. Interesting things to see are Mengler's Hill lookout, and maybe the Seppelt's Family Mausoleum in Marananga if you head north of Nuri a bit. SA Rotors did a nice cruise to the Barossa not long ago, I might see if I can dig up the route map. Last edited by CardinalBiggles : 12-27-06 at 23:19. |

Well AM sounds great, I saw the 40's resturant as I went past, right before I stopped in at Angas Park
A cool building is the Barossa Chatuex, but its only a building, nothing else unless you like roses, 30,000 roses....... I walked up to the Seppelts Mausoleam yesterday and I tell you what, thats a steep hill. I took some photos there, see below. ![]() Seppeltsfield Road ![]() |
