My car is just a weekender. Nothing goes wrong with it, that is I barely use it.
Ive had too much else to do besides work on it in ages. Im turboing an X series falcon, building up a 350cc Kawasaki trail bike, painting a mini and im contemplating building up a track-only 910 Datsun to participate in supersprints at Mallala. Oh and im supposidly studing at uni too, not that I really have much time for it. |

well if you can find one, get a front crossmember off a XG Ute (4L EB/D motor) so you can use the motor out of a EA - AU Falcon, and turbo that instead, the push rods in the X Series are fairly weak and have a tendancy to bend, and OHC is much better anyway... or you could be uber cool and get an XE V8 and replace the boat anchor cleveland and put a nice windsor motor in... say for instance a nice Winsor 351 (stroke 302) with 302 heads to give more compression and a nice holley 440 carb... you can get 500+ out of a 351 winsor... my dad's mate has a Mach1 Mustang Fast back with a winsor 351 putting out 550 atw... 345/15 tyres dont last long at all :P... but sideways at 140kph, that's a bit hairy...

i like the side skirts, but the lips on the front and rear bar??? i reckon it'll look better with a proper kit... and by "get them from ford or mazda" do you mean dealers??? it could have been an optional extra from the dealer, like the Rebel Kit on AU Falcons from, well obviously, Rebel Ford... just a thought... also, i dont believe you have posted pics of your car yet have ya?

ewwwww factory box.... lol, nice car mate it's in really good condition... and what a colour!!! if it is a factory option you might be able to get em from a wrecking yard along with the fog lights from the TX5 aws Ghia's... now they look nice! also, AU on Falcon's have the same stud pattern and offset as GD on, and the fairmont ghia wheel... well, yummy! you should see if ya can find a set off a BA/F Fairmont and put them on... they'll look sweet on her! aswell as a nice set of King Spring super lows!
EDIT: wait a sec... do i see the fog light in the "mouth"??? |

Im sticking with the X-Flow 250. Ive read all about the 4.0L conversions and at one stage I was tempted but I really, REALLY HATE THEM. Everyone ive known thats owned one has blown a head gasket (one of which I had to change) and I find them boring to drive. I really like the X-Flow 250. I grew up learning on that engine, so I guess its always going to be a favorite of mine. Sure its probably the most fault prone engine of all the cars ive got, but it always has got me home. There isnt anything in it that you cant fix with cable ties, a screwdriver, a roll of electrical tape and a 13mm spanner. If anything goes wrong I know where to look. If the engine dies and the tacho reads zero, the coil wire has fallen off. If it idles high and splutters on decelleration then the mixuture adjuster on the LPG has wobbled out of adjustment. I have so many fond memories of fixing that engine in the field too. At strath one day I got out to refuel and I noticed a pool a water running past me. Radiator hose had cracked. Out with the electrical tape, taped it up, left the radiator cap off and it got me home. Also one night it was pouring with rain, really late, got in the car about 100km from home and drove off. Ignition coil packed up a few seconds later, ran on about 4 cylinders while backfiring on the other 2. Still got me home. Numerous times I have filled it up with LPG in the servo and the car hasnt started up after (and there ALWAYS was a queue behind me) so ive had to push it into a car park. Noone has ever helped me push it either. Ive always got it going again though. That car and that engine are like an adventure to me, I look foward to driving it and waiting for what next will go wrong. The FE3 is just boring in comparison. Nothing ever goes wrong. |

and FETelstar, if you make sure that you keep coolant in the car with the 3.9/4L and loosen and re-torque the head bolts one by one every six months, and you should never have a head problem, unless you over heat the car... ;P i've fixed plenty of head gaskets on those engines, and well, yeah they are not fun lol... |
