The stock ecu uses a knock detector to retard/advance the timing already.. so it should be all good.. or are you using the meggasquirt to run the timing also?.

People that think they know everything seriously annoy those of us that actually do.

Next job I change on brakes is not going to be short of getting whole new calipers. Much bigger, big as I can fit. Brembo can custom make any calipers, it just costs $3500 .

Bigger brakes isnt really something Im considering soon. Too expensive and Ive spent too much on my car allready I really just wanna save up and go to Samoa with the girlfreind (be fun trying to convince her parents though )

Some more good news, my megasquirt got sent from the US on saturday, prob be here at the end of the week. My Modded fuel rails got here a few days ago, my Rb25DET injectors get shipped out on monday (only coming from Wollongong so 1-2 days). I just bought a Boost gauge. My batt location is 100% done and looks like a 95% pro job (stuffed the carpet on one tiny bit). My walbro 255 got here a few days ago and will prob put it in this weekend. I will be buying the IAT sensor kit from DIYautotune real soon (prob tonight, MegaSquirtPNP IAT Sensor Kit - Aluminum Bung DIYAutoTune.com any objection? ). And my oil catch can kit should be here any day now as well.

Bad news, I still havent heard from the guy who is getting my pipes .

the "adv till knock, then retard till clear, then wait, then advance again" method that stock ecus use is NOT good for use with boost.

you want timing control!! and if you do, you'll need a box to filter the knock signal before the ms gets hold of it.

letting the stock ecu have any control is dangerous...

Also where should I get the IAC sensor from? the Kit at DIYautotune is ausome, but when it gets here I have to pay taxes and import fees(and I dont know how) and shipping and it will prob cost like $60 by the time it gets to my door.

Ive gone to places and asked and they look at me like im crazy, and I dont want to buy something that wont work with Megasquirt.

relax, all ms boxs can do ign and fuel with the right config and hardware mods. just so long as you can trigger it well enough, it can do spark.

as for iat :

any will work... i'm using an open one from a "hi n dry" as open ones are faster than closed. corollas use a closed type. most every car has one.

go to a yard and find one thats physically suitable, and get it. get a pigtail and or plug whatever it needs too. get it to a fixed temperature that you know, and read its resistance, then change the temp to another and get it there. you'll end up with a curve like this :

(this is a coolant sensor curve, but still)

i did that with a fridge and hot water and a digi thermometer and a dvm, easy.

fred.

What car should I get the IAC from? Im guessing late model turbo(open element) cars. I know early turbo cars (like the 1st gen mx6) dont use a IAC. Do you think repco would have it?

like i said, look around, you will find one. gm cars often have the right one. check out all the [shizzle] box holdens... just look in a yard till you find one that suits you... thats what i did, hence hi n dry (hyundai) for me.

1g mx6 DOES have it... built into the vaf.

location is important too. right after the intercooler quite far fwd is a good place such that it doesnt get heat soaked and read wrongly.
