Haha oathskies very good price and the IC's they have are supposed to be good quaility and it has a 2 year warranty as well .

Just need to get cold pipes, couplers clamps and valve cover gaskets, IM gaskets and Exhaust manifold gaskets on the 6 and I am good to start installing once the pipes get here . Now I just need to find cold pipes in 2" with one of those ebay kits.

If your saying i have the gift of the gab and don't know what im talking bout id say no lol i don't have the gift of the gab but when i give advice i've always told turk to check PT as they are the guys who are smart and have the knowledge of MS and boosting a ZE.
not at all, wasnt thinking of you at all, was thinking about the "bosch is cheap junk" comment and the other dude that was using his coil to trigger.

Quote:
Nar Nin I think he was just reffering to everyone who looks like they know there stuff on the internet.
correct :-)

Quote:
Also thoese monkey you called them are guys who are top MS guys and have done heaps of conversions but have still wrecked the ZE.
i don't care how "top" they are, they fried engines, one of two things was going on, they did it knowingly looking for the last 1hp, or they were monkeys. simple.

you have to realise that the dude down the road that wants to charge $40 less per hour (how much does this guy want????????????????????) could do an ok job, a brilliant job, or a poor but workable job, and without your own wideband and datalogs, you wont know if hes screwed you or not.

conversely, the guy that you meet online from around the other corner who will do it for beer might do a better job for much less. $$$ != performance in this industry. if it was ms would suck... but its brilliant.

things like "my o2 sensor cost $3000" sound pretty attractive, but at the end of the day, its meaningless to some extent. talk to these guys (both of them!!) about the actual process they will use, target afrs, knock threshold etc. record this stuff, read up on it and determine who is talking [shizzle] as a sales pitch, and who knows their stuff.

you cant really tune your engine NA without a decent wideband. so you need to get one anyway, first for tuning, second for monitoring later to see if something funny happens. seriously though, when whoever is tuning it, you want a datalog to see whats going on. you want that to include afr with a time reference! you cant have that without your own o2 installed.

once again $$ != goodness

fred.

The guy who charges less has a reputation with ringing you up and saying oh yer another $100 bucks for this another $500 for this and well he actually fried my mates motor because he knew he would go through him to rebuild with forgies.

The guy that I am going with is one of the top tuner shops in Sydney, and my cousins 10 second GSR lancer got tuned there and is still daily driven car. This isnt someone I found on the net, I have mates of mates etc that have used him and he is known to be one of the best. And he is charging $150 per hour, says that it should be done in about 2 hours max and that anything over he wont charge. He is the one who said that Bosch sensors are rubbish, not some random on the net. Oh and its a shop, he said I can tune my self on there dyno for like $100 an hour, ild rather let him do it.

They also had this stripped out Commodore VT at the front, parachutes at the back, roll cage, but with no engine . Obviously a work in progress.

i realise that it was a dude with a "reputation" that said that about the O2.

you might get it closish in 2 hours, but it will take longer than that to get it properly dialed in. for the whole map. do the math yourself. 12x12 = 144 load points x2 for ign AND fuel = 288 load points. if he is the master of all time and just knows what they should all be, it would take him 5 min to do just to adjust each one to its correct value with no iterative tuning. if you have to do a dyno run in between each adjustment...

not saying you do a dyno run and then adjust only one cell, you dont. you do a run till you see it going lean, then you bump up the fuel in the cells where it was lean, and the ones above it too, and the same time you bring the next line closer interpolating it with the 2nd next row, etc. you could have wot tuned pretty quickly indeed, maybe 30m or so max. then you have a bunch of part throttle tuning to do and accel enrichment tuning to do, the latter being really hard to do on a dyno. or at least really slow. i guess what i'm saying is that you wont get a full tune of all things to a good level inside 2 hours NO MATTER HOW GOOD the guy is.

there is no point in doing it on the dyno if you diy it
A it would take so long to get it just right that you would be severely broke
B the car wont be so fast that you cant do it on the street.

anyway, go forth and conquer.

Lol true about anywhere, there are alot of [shizzle] talkers even in the industry. Just because they get paid for it, doesnt always mean they are good at it or know what they are on about.

Yer 2 hours on the dyno, and the rest on the road I think he said. $300 tuned even if it takes an extra 30 mins, 1 hour etc, I wonder if it will pass emissions.....?

Funny story, Im meeting this asian guy from ebay for intercooler pipes, he has an ebay store. He lives one suburb over so I said can I do cash on pick up get for cheaper. He suggests we meet in car park at 9pm, im like yer sweet I guess he dont want me to know where he lives that is understandble (and thinking ill bring a mate just to be safe) then messages me just now and says im working late overtime and that can we meet at 11pm.....

So now Im going with my mate and my machete. If I dont msg back after 11, assume im either stabbed/shot or in jail for deciding to rob him because opportunity was there. Still, a bargain is a bargain im getting a hell load of intercooler pipes, couplers, reducers, clamps for $200 .
