dunno bout the mascot. im thinking something a bit more cool. not so lame.

im a bit miffed atm cos i got knocked back for my loan cos of my HECS debt. kinda stupid when u think about it cos the hecs debt means ive gone to uni which means ill prbly earn a fair bit in a few years and be able to pay the loan off easier. but meh wat can u do?

im gonna try my bank now on the recommendation of the person who organised the whole thing. otherwise i might just give up and fix the mx6

bugger that sucks. Sorry to hear that. I never thought that HECs debts would prevent you from getting a loan. That sucks

Actually HECS debt is going to hurt you more. Take it from me, I had NO JOB period no dole, me and mate went into this bank (ANZ) and he appyled for small personal. I bored and pretend I was interested - more in the chick teller then anything else. But she typed up all sorts of crap. But because I was not in debt, had a small minimal income - I didn't think a job once a week where you get $100 was worth anything but ??? I could have gotten a $5K loan to a Credit card etc.

Because to them Just because your going to UNI they Dont' knwo for sure you are going to get a good job - I know 6 guys gone to uni all degrees and things, Right now NO JOBS. One guy everyone in his class Job himmm NO JOB.
Uni is no garrentee into a job. Look at me, I know nothing, done nothing. All I got is my hands and they do a great job as a fitter and turner, A great job playing with grease, A great job lifting large lumps of metal. Plus a great Job in the bedroom.

THe secret is to show them Even if uni does not provide a better job you can still pay the loan off.

Hmm ... HECS affected a small personal loan? That sounds a bit rough.

Which bank did you go to? I've heard that it knocks off thousands off a home loan, but never a personal loan ... that's just stupid! Get your olds to guarantor you ... that should give you a foot-in. If you have a credit card, snap it and cancel it.

Rod, it's nothing to do with jobs, it's to do with credit and feasability to the bank. For example: if DS has a Car, and a few things to his name totalling $10k, the most the bank will loan him is $20k. If he has a $15000 HECS debt, they can only loan him $5k ... and then if he has a credit card, that goes against him again. If he's buying a car on a loan, they take into account the value of the car and the depreciation of that asset in case DS defaults.

At the end of the day, you lose money on cars ... DS, keep the MX6 and be done with it. If you got the loan it'd be more useful putting it into investments and getting something back, than throwing it into yet another money pit ... Or ... save the money for a nice car. What's the use of messing around with crappy imports and dodgy bombs when you can save up for 10 years and buy yourself something decent. Maybe by that time you'd have grown out of the urge to buy fast cars and use the saved money as a deposit for a house.

hmm. that sucks. I never thought of hecs fees stopping you from getting a loan. Bit unfair really coz if you had the money to pay for Hecs fees then you probably wouldnt be wanting a loan.

You cant do anything these days without have bad consquences

It's not nice ... but there's nothing we can do about it as it is the better option for the country - if it were free, everyone would go to uni.
