There are LOADS of skylines in Canberra. They get a bit boring after a while. Its weird when an import is more common than the MX6.

Although I have seen a couple of turbo first gen MX6 cars getting around. I know they are turbo because they go psshhhhttt!

i can see the appeal of the skyrines, they are pretty cheap and have massive aftermarket support, but at the same time, i love being different from the mainstream, hence my love of mazdas, there just over-engineered and silly, and of course my dream car (Fd) has a nutter motor and 15 years after its release is still one of the most porn looking cars on the road *drool*

well, thats why i like the stagea. its different but it still has the RB25 which is really really a fantastic engine. its so smooth and has huge power potential. getting a 200kw daily driver is no worries with it. with the stag im aiming for around 170 - 180awkw. im just leaving it for a while because at my age my insurance is just getting the soap ready for when i declare mods. so my car is all stock at the moment

The whole reason I built my Wagon was because well it's different and discret, to a point.
Each car has an appeal but, from what I can tell - alot of people buy cars - they either can't afford or buy it because it's easy, easy to modify easy to get parts for etc.

But the one thing I have learnt is that at the end of the day, If you don't have the money you won't WIN.
It sounds wrong but it's a fact.
Sure you can build this and that but alot of the time - every car iv'e seen guys do this and that it's A ONE TIME EFFORT.

run it on this boost - only once or it did it on stock bottem end - ONCE.
Alot of people don't know what they want and as noted Alot of them are WANKERS. They are just in it for the GLORY. Or to say they did this and that.
None of them actually go through the drama or the late nights.
Or had to fork out $600 to get the car towed from the Track to get it home.
Or had to borrow other cars to get to work because after a good weekend some smart arse notices a waterleak, turns out to be a waterpump.

It's why msot of these cars you see it's got the big polishe turbo - only running 12psi. Huge intercooler - that is really needed for 12psi.
It's got the carbon fibre hood because the Sub woofers drag the car down.

End of the day the different between you and the car guy in the next lane getting to the park car before he does, is the difference between- WHO is willing NOT TO BACK OFF.

Just remember that don't fear the loose because the other guy DON'T GIVE A DAM.

Or he's 8mm in the dash.

double post??!!

but 24hours in between, whats with that?

anyway, yeah there are lots of wankers on the roads. One of the reasons I have not modified the Cosmo or the MX6 is because I want to drive them. I don't want to make 600kw at a dyno day once and destroy an engine.

At the last rotary dyno day I went to there was an FD with less than 30,000km on it. Turbos did not work though. Because the first thing the owner did was install a boost controller and crank up the boost way past what the stock turbos can handle. Then he flogged it around a track. Two weeks or less after he bought a MINT RX7 he wrecked parts of it.

I don't mind him wrecking is car. But thats what you have to expect. if stock boost is 10psi and you dial it up to 24psi, you have to expect something to break. So this guy was complaining that the stock mazda turbos are no good etc. etc.

Something tells me the turbos are not at fault here.

Saw the trailer for the new movie 'The Watchmen'. Looks good. Now I'm off to buy the graphic novel so I know what it is all about.

Wow, I'm surprised to read such sane posts! Common sense perhaps isn't dead yet!
I agree, build a car to enjoy it, not for Dyno figures or bragging rights or so you can put an Autosalon sticker on the back window.
I spend more time on my [shizzle]ter then I do on a dyno or at the drags and it's still a stock bowl!

P.S. Hi!

My rear sun visor is no more

It is in pieces across the driveway thanks to 80km/h winds. Thing is, I considered reversing my car into the driveway so the sun visor would not turn into a sail in the wind.

Could do an insurance claim, but apparently I would still have to pay the age excess. It's bull[shizzle] - an act of god/storm damage - and I still have to pay an excess. That's insurance for you.
