Sup?

Man, all hell is breaking loose over a Today Tonight story shown here...2 guys obsessed with amateur radio and IT cruise around with a dash mounted camera dobbing in hoons. The guys have pretty much signed their death warrants as there is a 25+ page thread on one Perth performace car forum - addresses, contact details, background info on the guys.... All within about 2 hours of the story being screened. So much LOL!

Funny thing is I know both guys, one was a year above me at school, had nothing to do with him - very quiet guy.

The other was part of cadets. He had the aspiration of being a cop - but that all failed once when he decided to throw on his cadets uniform (Which resembles a Police uniform) one weekend where there was a bushfire nearby. He started directing Traffic apparently - that was the end of him in cadets.

Worse still, he once made a police call to a bomb threat or the likes at his school using a police scanner. He faced juvenile charges over that I believe. Also had something to do with the production of fake IDs.

So Ironic how Today Tonight showed them as good people cracking down on hoons, failing to realise the serious background of one of the guys.

Besides that little bit of excitement - same old. Had a day off yesterday, car had it's 180,000km service - just the usual, nothing major. $15 in disposal fees - how lame is that?! Guess when you are registered to all sorts of automotive organisations, you have to do the right thing - especially if you got audited or the likes.

Nice positive outcome from the Jukebox saga Nin! Sucks to have 40 calls! I have like 2-3 jobs a day...and alot of travelling - love it! This week is pretty awesome so far - long interesting jobs all at nice pleasant clients

Rds - I am going to call you a car whore if you get another car.

Better get back to work now...

someone keeps putting holes in the sidewalls of the Cosmo's tyres when it is parked in my carport at home.

not happy, got 3 punctures repaired. I'm not replacing the tyres until I know they won't be vandalized again.

Guess it could be worse - they could have damaged the body work.

Just get some wheel clamps and modify them to cover the whole tyre - maybe electrify them as well.

Epic suspension FTL.

Is that normal over there?

Minimum suspension here is 3months (still, I think) - but that depends on the offence and consideration of pass offences.

actually there has been some keying on the drivers side panel. The alarm goes off it you bump it. So putting a hole in the tyre is about all they can get away with.

another 9 months without driving!!!!?!???

I don't think I could handle that!

yeh, min here is 3months.
actually, you can lose it for 1month for 30-40km/h over. 40+ is 3months or 6months.
in fact, ive lost my license BEFORE for that. marchish a year or 2 ago.

its epic fail CANCELLATION. i have to do my P's all over again.

All from scratch? or just the test again?

I would have suggested coming to WA to get your license, until about a month ago, you could have applied for your L's and got your P's within a week. Now there is a minimum of 6months on your L's.

It used to be 6months on your Ls in NSW, now its 1 year Minimum and 120 Hours, And they want to increase the age to 17 (before you can get your Ls) and make it 200 Hours practice...

Lucky for Us who already have our licenses I spose. But then I missed out on being able to drive a V8 by a few weeks. But again, I suppose if I had bought a big V8 with an LSD as a first car Id probably be dead already. Get into enough trouble with a 6cyl and Single Spinner. For the best I spose!

I'd welcome tighter licensing laws... not age though. Sooner you can get P's the better, AS LONG as you can drive....
Seriously I'd be all for much harsher testing

Biggest one is force all P platers to do defensive/skipan courses. The amount they teach you is just amazing and it'd save a tonne of lives when all those people who think they can drive start to loose it and have no idea what to do.

It's the reason I'm insured with Shannons at age 20 when they state on their website you have to be 25 to get insured by them- I've done defensive and skidpan courses and hold a CAMS license and compete in motorsport, so Shannons says I'm a lower risk of being involved in an accident because I know how to drive and to get myself out of trouble if I ever get into it.

result - $900 p/a premium for full comprehensive instead of $3500 that NRMA quoted... PLUS I keep the wreck AND its agreed value.

I bet if that sort of info got around and a few more insurance companies decided theyd offer simillar things, tonnes more young drivers would do further training, if only to get cheaper insurance.

But I'd go beyond that. I would say you can only drive a car with X power if you're on a level 1 license. You want a more powerful car, do more tests to prove you can handle it. Nothing age based like NSW currently has, just do more tests, higher level license = more powerful car. You have to do tests to drive HEAVIER cars (ie trucks), so why not more powerful ones?

Of course the problems with all this is that it would raise the cost of getting a license considerably (though probably only by about $100 if the government were willing to subsidise driver training). Though, if it would save lives - which it definitly would - it'd be worth it.

But what the NSW government has done so far has been a lot of stupid ideas and some that are getting there but need a lot of refining. Curfews? WTF!? Are they asking younger people to drive home drunk instead of having a DD.....
Car restrictions are getting there but there are so many cars not on the list that are much deadlier than cars on the list and visa versa...

hrmmm I should really go to bed hah.

[/rant]

oh and Aus - thats damn [shizzle] about getting tyres staked and doors keyed - seriously need a camera like rds mentioned.
