there is a bit on the bottom that u need to hold onto with a spanner/shifter then the top just twists off.
at least this is the case for a 1st gen |

Nah ... 2nd Gen's just twist off with your hand ... twist it anti-clockwise and hold onto the stick just underneath the knob when you're twisting it.
Should be a breeze ... considering they have applied an anti-lock grease to the stick. ... probably best to apply some when you put the new knob on ![]() |

Make sure you twist anticlockwise (lefty loosey, righty tighty). Also check if there is a grub screw holding it in place at the bottom of the knob........
...hehehehe...I said "knob"! That's ruuuuude isn't it. Maybe you should eat a steak before you make your next attempt, you need more iron. Last edited by crusty : 6-6-04 at 20:03. |

On some knobs (mainly aftermarket) there is a tiny little allen key grub screw at the base of knob that holds it firmly to the shaft. It was just a thought, I doubt you'd have one. Just an excuse to type "knob" ....... & "shaft".
Pity about the meat. |
