Is There a Factory Rev Limiter on the GT?

It seems like I've read conflicting things on this, but is there a factory rev limiter on the GT models? Mine dies at about 6200 rpm despite being run through a MSD SCI with a 6800 rpm chip in it. The way the car dies is unlike the soft touch feature on the MSD so I sure it's something factory related.

Thanks for the flaming, like I said I deserve it. I'm doing really well, I appreciate you asking too. I still have some radiation treatment left and with any luck I'll be done. I had a bone biopsy done today. Not near as painful as I thought it would be. It came back clean too which is really good news. Hey, did that heating/air controller fix your problem? It always makes me feel better when I send somebody a part(s) that fixes their problem.

Yes, the consensus seems to be around 6200 RPM give or take a very little. It's nice that Mazda gave us 200 RPM over the redline on the tach.

Yeah, when it hits 6200 it lurches forward and acts like it wants to die for a second and then catches again. It's almost like hitting boost cut, but with no buzzer. In a way it depends on how a particular engine is upgraded and the overall health of the motor.

I'd like to make it rev to about 7800, but that is going to take a major tune, and alot of work, but thats why i'm going to build my car next summer

one that was worked over to breathe well would be fun, and sound mean at 7k, but it would take alot of time and work to get there, and would just rise exponentially anything above that...

There's not a cam available that would allow the F2T to rev to 7800rpm while still making power.
It would take a custom cam with a lot more duration, a bit more overlap and as much lift as possible (which is about 11mm with our poor valvetrain geometry) to do it.
Thats on top of the required porting work and forged, lighter weight, balanced internals.
Not to mention proper standalone management with improved ignition output.

IMHO that would ruin one of the best qualities of the engine, mid range torque.

VF12 - VJ11 hybrid https://www.mx6.com/forums/1g-mx6-for...ic-inside.html 5 1/4" VDO splits in custom door trims https://www.mx6.com/forums/1g-mx6-gen...cs-inside.html, 12" sub in custom boot/trunk https://www.mx6.com/forums/1g-mx6-app...cs-inside.html 2.5" cat back, 18"x12"x3" FMIC.

I agree about the torque of the engine, what keeps bringing me back to it, I'm sure
