I believe that there is no door lock actuator on the drivers side, therefore i cannot connect my aftermarket keyless entry system without fitting a door actuator on the drivers side of the car?
Why will it not work if i was to just connect it up to the passenger side actuator?
Is it something to do with the factory alarm sounding off??
If that's the case can i just disconnect the factory alarm the same as you do a Ford Probe by disconnecting the bonnet pin wire?.
I looked into this when I installed an aftermarket alarm
The original door actuators, if you open up the door, has wires going to the lock mechanism. If you apply some power to these wires, it does indeed have an actuator
However, I'm not sure if you're able to just add a relay to these wires and hook up the alarm. You can try and see
If you source your own door actuator off ebay or something and add a relay for those too and just have it open/close the locks manually, you'd have a sure way of hooking up the keyless entry, however if you want to tinker a bit with the stock actuators, there's a definite possibility they will work also.
The later years actuator and earlier (whether a keyless option was offered or not) are the same when I compared a 93 to a 96. Even the wiring is in the car, just not the receiver box for the keyless entry
All you need is to find a later model that had keyless entry. I used the actuator from a 1996 it bolts right in place. Then you run the wires from your aftermarket keyless entry to the new actuator. The way your 94 works is when the door lock is opened on the driver side it sends a signal to the pass side door that triggers that power actuator. So if you try to wire it just to the passenger door it will be the only door that unlocks. I wish I had good pictures of this but I added keyless entry to my 93 a few months ago there is not much info on here about it. If you have any more questions ask away
On a side note, I have a 94 that uses a key to unlock. I can unlock both doors from the drivers side fine. But trying to unlock from the passenger side, the key won't unlock it......same thing with the trunk lock.
On another side note, one time I went camping and slept in the car....locked both doors from the inside using the lock tab in the door....woke up in the morning, pulled the lock tab open......door alarm went off.....nice wake up alarm I guess
I bought an original actuator for my '94, but it was easier to fit an after-market one at the time. I seem to remember that the wires were there. Mine was Sept '94 .. around this time a few things changed.
I still have it back in Australia. I'm now in the UK and fitted a after market keyless entry system to the '96 car I have here. It came with a "central locking system" not keyless entry, but cuting and wiring the unlock / lock on the passenger side was easy enough.
