SOUND SYSTEM INSTRUCTIONS...

FIRST... pull out your factory deck.

SECOND... get an old used baseball bat.

THIRD... throw the deck up in the air and hit it as it falls back to the ground.

FOURTH... get a measuring tape, measure how far you hit it and...

FIFTH... go to you local radio shop, buy an aftermarket CD (or tape) player.

SIXTH... come back home, post about how your radio sounds. and dont forget to include your batting distance.

do this. it feels great, im serious. whenever one of my friends buys a stolen deck that doesnt work for like $5 and brings it to me to fix and i cant fix it (either not worth it or unavailable part), we take it out in my driveway and get out the radio bat.

Is your radio flashing "CoDE" ?? And if so, have you ever set an anti-theft code in your radio before? Dont just enter in random numbers.. If you enter the wrong thing 3 times I think your radio is useless

i think its only useless for 1 hour or something...not sure. for get the code, GET A REAL STEREO! (also if you dont have a baseball bat, try throwing the deck in the air as high as you can...its a pretty good stress reliever).

I don't have my manual here either, but don't go fooling around, because after three failures it takes a trip to the dealership and they charge you about $35 to put in the ultra-secret code or you can go aftermarket. I went aftermarket. The dealership will usually wipe out the security features so you don't have to worry about this again or that's what they told me. That baseball thing sounds fun, but I want to keep mine in case I sell her and want to restore her facctory audion settings, ie. I want to keep my head unit.

You're wasting your friggin time.....

Just go buy an aftermarket CD deck....
The factory set ain't worth your time...
It's a fact that after 3 mis-tries, the deck has to be re-programmed by a Mazda dealer. Is this worth all that trouble?

Still need the instructions???

OK, I've needed to do this a few times myself after disconnecting the battery, so I thought I'd type out the steps for anyone who needs to reset their factory radio. Someday I may follow JspecMX-6's steps, but until I can afford a quality aftermarket deck, here's what you need to do to deactivate the antitheft system: (as written in my '93 MX6 owner's manual)
  1. Press SCAN and AUTO.M until bars are displayed.
  2. While the bars are displayed, input the code number by pressing the channel preset buttons 1, 2, 3, and 4. Press 1 for the first digit, 2 for the second, 3 for the third, and 4 for the last. If you number is 2547, press 1 three times, 2 six times, 3 five times, and 4 eight times. If the dispay goes off while inputing, begin from step 1.
  3. Press SCAN and AUTO.M approximately 2 seconds and 'code' is displayed. 'code' will flash for 5 seconds, then disappear to indicate that the system is operable. If 'Err' appears, begin from step 1.

!CAUTION: Three consecutive errors will activate the antitheft system, and the audio unit will be completely inoperable and 'Err' will flash. When this happens, the unit must be replaced by an Authouized Mazda Dealer at the owner's expense. Do not allow unauthorized persons to attempt to input a code number.

The radio is not toast if the code is entered incorectly three times. (handy if you don't know the code). Once you get the permanent Err message press:
SCAN
AM/FM
AUTO M
UP on RADIO TUNER

You'll get the secret dealer code screen.
Unfortunately I'm still looking for the dealer code and the end sequence which I believe to be CLOCK, The standard Miata codes don't seem to work on my Canadian spec '94 LS. Anyone know.

Dealer Code to reset Factory Radio

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE DEALER CODE!?!?!?

I had an unfortunate encounter with my security system which required a reset. I had to pull the plug and got locked out of the radio. The previous owner had dutifuly entered the code, but I don't have it. I know the radio is not toast if the code is entered incorectly three times because I've had experience reviving 'dead' Miata radio's. (handy when you don't know the code). At the permanent Err message on my '94 LS cassette/radio
If I press press:
SCAN
AM/FM
AUTO M
UP on RADIO TUNER
I can get to the secret dealer code screen.

Unfortunately I'm still looking for the dealer code and the end sequence which I believe to be CLOCK, The standard Miata codes don't seem to work on my Canadian spec '94 LS.

There's only 4 digits. You could always start with 0001 and work your way to 9999, then tell us when you've found it
