One forum I'm on had some pretty crazy April Fools pranks. Here's a couple of the things they did there:

"Sold" the site to a fake new owner
Posted fake news articles that one of the moderators was arrested on a murder charge
Touched off a fake message board war that suckered in people off several other forums

That last one was the hardest one to pull off - we spent a whole month making a phony forum on one of those free message board sites and populating it with fake posts before touching off the flame war. But I'm very impressed at this prank - even if I wasn't around to see it when it was up.

Oh that pink was rough.

For people who missed it, I took a screen shot.

Can't forget you turned the For Sale section to look like probetalk

When was everything reversed/backward? [edit: I actually read a few posts above after.]

And for anyone who missed April fools (like I almost did). Here is what the homepage looked like.

skiingman It went something like this:
Code:
for(;;){
popup(www.mx6.com)
}
or whatever that would look like in Javascript. I was actually kind of annoyed that such a trivial bit of code (which could easily have been a coding mistake in a different context) would crash Firefox.

RdS ^^ the thing in his sig? yeah, i didnt get that.. it was just a logon page.

but if it was a thing that popped up thousands of pages... that woulda been sweet as
too bad i use Firefox too.

Zach I clicked j0n's link and only came up with broken images and fake looking logon screen

skiingman haha, that was a different Jon thing most people didn't see.

Interestingly my Firefox (2.0.0.3) locked up and bound my processor immediately instead of what yours did, apparently quitting after one signed integer worth of iterations.

It did work to actually open popups in IE7, though IE for whatever reason decided arbitrarily to limit it to about 60. I wonder where in the code someone decided to limit popups to 60...and why they chose 60 instead of 10 or 40 or 100.
