d0zxmustang Car is "done" for now, shes back on all fours and running like a champ.

Heres a quick vid of the 4ws system back up and running...should have a driving video as soon as I get a decent mount.

d0zxmustang Thought I would share a little update on this project...

Its been a few years since I last worked with the car, and a bit was sold and parted out. The 4WS is still all there, and I am currently swapping in the 4WS front sub-frame and getting the system (and car for that matter) back on the road. Couldn't stand to see it sit and rot away after all the work i put into it.

Swapping in a FE3, because the F2 isn't cool enough for 4WS

Cams suck lol. Engine has aluminum pan, O2 sensor, low compression cams but has Knock sensor, NO oil cooler...

PS: I am still waiting to see someone create the MX6/626 coupe 4WD.
That's what I'm waiting for too! AWD MX-6 would CERTAINLY be worth the international fame!! The local inspection agents aren't too excited about the idea though

The problem is the 4WS and AWD parts are considerably different to each other... the only way I can imagine is the lateral arms on AWD were replaced with hydraulic rams. Proper AWD parts don't have RWD CV joints in the rear axle,, and 4WS won't bolt on to AWD parts

It MAY be possible to have a custom job, would have to have custom rear spindles made...
MSGTR actually metionned that they talked bout that only.

Virtually, anything is possible ... now the question ... Is it worth the hassle?
I wouldn't go through a fabing nightmare to get 4WS personnaly ... but that is just me ...

gtdreamdxbudget kudos on getting the 4WS setup swapped over to a probe. very few of the people here can truly say they have a car that is unique

jphillips626 shifter rods are most crucial. I would guesstimate that everyone will advise against the 1gen to 2nd gen 4ws swap...mainly because they had the 2nd gen 4ws cars in japan and AU.

d0zxmustang I would HIGHLY recommend starting with a complete car, it would nearly be impossible to find all the parts individually needed to swap it correctly.

Heres a list of the stuff needed from a 1st gen 4WS (sure the 2nd gen is pretty similar):

-Rear Subframe
-Rear steering rack
-Rear spindles
-Rear control arms
-Rear trailing arms
-Rear 4WS Sway bar
-Complete wiring harness (and I mean complete, the 4ws wires go through the entire car)
-Control Unit
-Timer/Relay Unit
-4WS Error Light (for dash)
-Gas tank
-Fuel transfer Control Unit
-Front steering rack
-Front 4WS Sway bar
-Steering angle transfer shaft
-Front-to-rear P/S lines
-Resivor-to-front steering gear lines
-P/S resivor with low-fluid sensor
-4WS P/S Pump (basiclly two pumps in one)
-P/S Bracket (4WS specific)
-Transmission speed sensor
-Shifter mount and shift rod

JLCustomizing I think its pretty close to the same, except i woulndt have to fab parts as long as i get them all sent from japan lol.
