We have a warning system right now, it just hasnt worked for like the last year or 2.

The new warning system, will send automatically send you a PM when you get a warning, and it will also automatically make a thread in the moderator forum explaining why you were warned.

I think like 3 warnings and its a 5 day timeout, or somethig similar. (all done automatically) And im not sure on this but a warning might wear off after a period of time, like a month or 2, from the original date of it being received.

I am sure the members will be very excited about the new Warning system LOL..

The new Warning system WILL help the site. It will make it much easier to get rid of spammers, take action on violations and keep track of repeat offenders.
Each type of warning has a different number of warning points associated to it. The points can expire over time, so if you are an occassional offender, you will likely not experience a time-out if you take it easy for a while after a warning.
The system is automated so it will make moderating the site much less time consuming. This will allow the mods to do more such as catching spammers more quickly, defusing flame wars faster, etc.

I have a feeling an automatic warning system is going to cause a lot of problems. You guys arn't worried that it's going to warn people over the smallest things. What about when we swear and the filter kicks in. Its not going to warn us because of something stupid like that is it? How smart did you guys make it to catch flamming?

we have complete control over which infractions are automated and not.
If we do decide to make labguage filter violations an automatic offence, then it will likely be a very minor issue with only 1 warning point that expires relatively quickly.
Flaming will be something that requires a moderator to identify so it will not be fully automated.
The system is good at detecting spammers, signature length violations, language filter issues, and a few other things, but many infractions will still require a moderator to manage.

Not really...the design work I am doing is impossible to determine when it will be complete. I am not so much waiting to complete it as I am looking for an opportunity where the new site is in a stable condition and imagoon and myself have time to make the switch.
The development on the site will continue for some time after the changeover.
The new site is currently NOT stable, so it needs some more work before I can even consider the change. We are very close though. I would like to complete the work in the next 2 weeks then I am going on a short vacation and when I get back I want to make changeover.

Sean is there a list somewhere that lists the warning amounts per violation?

Honestly, I don't remember. I think 30 is perma ban, and 10 is temp? I'd have to look it up to find out. There is no real time frame other than what is listed there. Once the points expire for whatever rule it was, the points for that infraction are erased. If a person gets to 30 points, then (s)he is banned. Still not sure about 10 being a temp or not though.

Is there any way to get rid of your expired points? I have a couple expired points...do they really need to be there?

They stay on record, but don't count against your point total.

That dog character got over 70 before he was perma banned right? He got to the point where you couldn't even see jewels, just the number.
