Forum Cleanup in Preparation for Upgrade

I performed a small forum clean-up in preparation for the upgrade and server move.
The Suggestions/Comments forum has been moved to the bottom of the forums.

what sort of upgrade we looking at here? any down time?

Scooby 8-15-06 21:57

If all goes well, there will be little downtime..
We are trying to coordinate a DNS, software and server change all at the same time, though.. So there is a lot that can go wrong.

Imagoon and I will be making some test runs this week to see if we can get it to run smoothly. But we can not test the DNS changeover so we just have to hope that goes well.

That would be like a mass ban of noobs, but you and I both know thats not happening, lol.

Hope all goes well and look forward to the new changes!

If you guys have any important threads or pertinant info, you might want to start backing it up. Last major overhaul saw a bunch of threads, pictures, info disappear. If you have any FAQ's or pictures that are rare, info saved as threads favs....start backing it up just incase.

Why ban all of the noobs when we could ban about 10-15 veteran members and 99% of the sites problems would go away.-Justin

I pray to god you keep the dark backround with lighter text color scheme. It's so easy on the eyes. Good for latenight/early morning browsing.

I for one don't want to see one of those portal pages where nothing gets updated (see probetalk for an example of a portal page that hasn't been updated since '05- http://www.probetalk.com/modules/news/) or a homepage that needs registration for access to threads.

IE: I've posted plenty of "how to's" and or picture threads in general on www.mazda323performance.com but if I gave you the link, you'd have to register to see it.

Examples:

Nope, none of that... I may add a portal page at some later date, but it would automatically updated with content from the various sections of the site.

The color scheme will also remain very close to what it is now.

I browse at work alot and often get people looking over my shoulder. They say things like "what website is that?" and "oh, it's a car website?" and the next comments are usually "nice format" or "good colors".

One time I heard "Club Si SUCKS compared to that"- dead serious too. May the flying spaghetti monster strike down one of my testiculars if I'm not telling the truth.
