Thought this would be a good idea to start so we can keep MX6.com strong in SA, its a place where you can just say g'day and chat about anything and let other SA members know who you are and what you have been up to ect....
Ill start , I was going to change a manifold gasket when I discovered the head needs work because someone put a bolt in too far and straight into a water gallery. All part of the fun
Yeah, after losing the clutch on South Road on the way home, I managed somehow to limp the car to a workshop and got a lift home. First thing Monday morning I'll survey the situation - chances are it's a popped clutch hose of some description.
I can't begin to describe how much I don't like the idea of doing clutchless gear changes.. glad it didn't happen while we were at Victor! I think I should get a lotto ticket this week for sure
Thanks AM for the pics and comments,im not good at that stuff. you did really well to talk on the UHF, take photos while driving good work!
Rep for your efforts:angel:
well psi626 u ddid a great job on the cruise matey! i recon it was fantastic....well not this wekkend but the next there is a nissansilvia.com charity cruise u have to bring a toy or ten bucks to raise money for the salvation army...i thought we could all go as a group and have another mini cruise but just with a whole lot of other people and cars there....i recon it would be great....
Well, Mixy survived the night outdoors and it turns out that Cromax was right in his diagnosis - I'd popped the hose that attaches to the gearbox housing. I'll pick her up in a few hours and then do the ol' switcheroo.
[Edit: Not only was he right, he got the price about right too.. he said $80 part and the whole thing cost me $90. Woo hoo!]
Where's the rest of the pics, hmm? I know there's some out there..
Hey great cruise psi me and the missus really enjoyed ourselves, although after all them corners and breaking I seriously got to get my breaks done, they werent the best before and they are shocking now lol I will be putting some pics up on my home page pretty soon from the cruise
yeah ill work out this pic posting thing very soon i promise.
I called Cory from magg wheel and tyre centre today to have a chat about my ride hight that im not happy with, he really counldnt help me as he wont sell Kings but he said he was happy to modify the springs properly (if there is such a thing) i called King Springs and they said the GD on super lows will sit the rear 30mm lower because the fronts cant handle being that low. they say any lower the spings will fall out if jacked up???? 000mx6 yours sit quite low on the front, do your springs seem real loose when jacked up? i had standard hight front kings on before, should i kick up a stink and get my money back on the new fronts and just cut my old kings???
EDIT- see the pic above, my car (silver GD) should sit the front bumper the same as 000mx6 car (white 1st gen)
Just as a friendly request can people posting pics of others cars please make sure the licence plates are blocked out, it only takes a few secs to do it in paint, thank you

.. and given that it's only me that's posted something so far, point taken I'll get the clone tool out and do it juuuuuuust for you (but it'll take more than a few secs..).
yeah ive got a full set off king springs all the way around!. um the front ones are a standard sit and dont fall out if jacked up...but the rear when i got them were abit higher so i went to industrial springs and got them reset....i think they reheat them and dip them in like a oil substance ...they just resize your springs to what ever u want....
sorry card hadnt realised it was only you so far, is also for others who intend to post pics later on too, no offence intended to you but would be greatly appreciated

No worries. I might post up a few I took, but they were much the same as the others that are up now.
Im surprised after the cruise nothing has gone wrong with my car Thats the first long drive its had with the new motor! Actually its really good its still running else id be walking
well today was just too damn hot... and 000mx6... i thought the 2.2L was supposed to be alot faster... not just a little and if only i got traction *thinking smiley*... that other 1st gen we saw looked good... but didn't look too fast... i mean, i did catch up again LOL... that was fun....
*Selva in no way condones street racing, it is extreemly dangerous and fun... but do not try it... or at least dont blame me
ok 1 more...
I gotta Defend myself here, well about as much as i can...
I did stop to wait for the gold AR, he neva came... so i took off looking for the beach, turns out i was right the first time... was heading up the road, saw Goldy popped a u-turn when it was clear... and lost him again ... after that, was my own stupidity...
errrr.... just a q, is 12 psi safe for the AS Turbo? or should i just stay on 8? im not too fussed with the life of the engine, as it's not really that good anyway.... also, did the FE3 come out turbo? coz that AR looked phatt and i was thinking of importing a FE3t if possible...
ok 1 more...

Sorry about that! I missed the Waitpinga road turnoff then lost the group. After going into the wrong beach I tried to call PSI but there was no signal. When we went back onto the main road we saw you and thought you were sent back by the group to find us so we kept on cruising. I was almost gonna pull over but it was 50m to the proper beach turnoff so I just kept going. Next time i'll pull over.
As for the FE3 idea its all about money. As TX5Turbo said they are reasnobly cheap to import at $1850 but then its fiddly stuff. The good news is that you have EFI already, so no surge tank and fuel lines like I had to. However you will need to weld up an alternator bracket, different front piece of exhaust, fit different airbox, wiring, possibly remote battery...... Its not hugely difficult stuff but its just costly in the fact of time and buying lots and lots of little cheap things that add up to a fair total.
Turboing the FE3 is quite difficult. Nobody makes turbo manifolds so you would have to pay an engineer to make one for you. Then depending on how much boost you run there is lower compression, O-ring head gaskets, new engine management etc etc etc..... Thats why ive left mine N/A for the time. For an N/A 4-cylinder its got some good power. There is no question that this would then make 300-350HP if done with a good turbo and good engine management, however the extra cost compared to an F2t is significant.
I dont know how you would go about fitting an F2t into the AS chassis. They use a different top engine mount so you would need to get that welded onto the chassis near the washer overflow tank. Or maybe the FET uses this mount already? I dont recall seeing it when I looked at your engine.
The best part of the F2t is that its already turbo, ready to go. Cheap easy power, and there is heaps of them in the country. The trick to wiring is to grab everything off a wreck and label where it came from and just "put it in" your car. Saves a lot of headache.
FE3 never came in turbo. And it would need a lot of $$$ to be turbod properly, also your aware of how much work it is to convert to the FE3, right? Not hard but very fiddly. Also the F2T has around 28% more power than the AS FE-T. However the F2T is a much more advanced engine with much more potential because of the factory components (ie. Computer Controlled Ignition, Multipoint Fuel Injection, 12V Head). Its not hard to get a 150KW out of an F2T with the right modifications, thats around a 47% Increase over the original FE-T, this is possible with $2.5k (using s/h parts ofcourse)
As for your car, you could try 12PSI but id think it may lean out, as I know if my car (F2T) isnt running up to scratch will ping on 12PSI, and that has 4 injectors, not one!
Try and see, but beware you could crack a piston from too much boost and/or leaning out.

Hey Selva since that was you I saw in Virginia, would that also be your TX5 I see in Two Wells regulary? If so look out for the white AT TX5 thats low, or a champagne silver 626GT with P Plates
yeah i am in tw every now and then, but not too often, you would prolly have more luck spotting my gf (Menace Purple TX3 Laser with a PHATT bk)... and i think i have seen yours... i have my TX5 running richer then normal so it's not a big fan of idling smooth, but all i need to do is idle it up to the 950 - 1000rpm mark and it's smooth as... whats the work involved in doing a FE2t conv.? and would anyone be willing to help? i can do all the mechanical work easy... but the wiring would be for someone else...
EDIT - What about the mpfi system off the 929t? the way a RWD sits with the mani facing the front of the engine would make a FMIC easier to put on... that and it has 4 injectors
MATE! let me defend myself here!!! sorry to give your hopes up but didnt you here me crunch second gear...thats probably why you kept up like you did....if i would have executed second gear nicely i would have "cained" you!!! hehehe but no excuses you kept up!
Ive decided to leave the ride hight alone and just live with it, not a fan of cutting or resetting the springs, any how they may drop 10mm anyway im told. the funny thing is the hight between the road and bottom of the car is the same at both ends of the car its just the gap between the wheel and arch thats different, besides im not sure if i want the Midnight Club Dub Edition look on my car, maybe my next car will.......

That's what I found. My springs did settle and it did take a while to do it. See where things sit in a month - and take photos so you know it's not an illusion!
Corey's an interesting fellow to talk to, isn't he? I have a lot of time for his work - he's set a lot of people I know on the right track, regardless of whether they actually buy from the MWTC or not, and I think that's the hallmark of someone who loves their job.
Hey hows this, on the way home from work last night i was on the expressway and following this van when we passed a tow truck picking up a broken down car. I could not belive what i was seeing when some guy reached out the side of the van and chucked his beer bottle at the tow truck, it hit the cabin and smashed all over the expressway. i had no choice to drive over it or cause another accident. looked like the people in the van thought it was quite funny and they started picking up speed (120-130ks) i took 3 secs to think bugger that no one desevers a bottle hiting them at over 100ks, i took off after it to get the rego and details, with in no time at all i got his van type, colour and rego then headed home.
As soon as i got home i rang the cops to find out the tow truck had just called them but he did not have any details on what van it was or the rego plate.
All the details i gave macthed up woo hoo!
i see this similar type of crap all the time on the roads so it feels boddy good to catch these wankers once and a while!!!
