History
Possibly the first B-Series in the US w/ the FE3 swap? Oh yeah, and still not done!
This very, very, (VERY!) long story began here and on Probetalk in the madcap years of the "Import Performance" craze. The pics below are from the spring of 2002. I had performed the static drop, added an electric radiator fan, MSD ignition and Pacesetter header. I was lamenting the "high cost" ($500) of adding the Weber side-draft carb setup when a friend bought a 2nd Gen MR2 and the challenge began! I had ZERO automotive experience/knowledge/background but that didn't stop me!
Very quickly I discovered the FE3. Originally I bought a WOLF3D ECU to run it. That didn't work (my fault, I'm sure.) I saw here, (Joined Jan 27, 2003) and in other places, people running ther FE3s with Electromotive TECIIs and SDS ECUs. I bought a second-hand TECHII and began rewiring. I got the truck on the road and to a local Import Race Day event for some test and tuning. Well, also some ringland breaking, it seems. This is when the gloves came off and I rebuilt the motor as described in the build post. This is also where life started to creep in with "life events" to include: motorcycle accidents, extended unemployment, new career path, home purchase, additional automotive project, and marriage.
In 2015 I decided it was time to (once again) abate the wiring mis-mash and now VERY outdated ECU system with a brand new Haltech Elite with all the goodies, including digital dash. I got about half way there before the above mentioned marriage occurred, again side-lining the project. At this point I realized it was time to call in a shop to finish what I started lo those many years ago. With cautious optimism I report today (03/12/2022) that we are creeping up on that event. There will still be some things I need to fix (the truck has sat for SOOOO long) but while I had the truck towed to the tuner shop, I will drive it home!
