I'm looking to get the best combination for $1000. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. This is Canadian so roughly $800 - $850 US. I went to places and some said like "two 12" type-s alpine subwoofers, and a rockford 600 Wat amp with the box and installation" for $1,100 CDN? Is this a good deal?

But also how hard is it to install these things on my own and how hard is it to make my own box?

Thanks

I have stock speakers which I'll change i na few weeks and a JVC MP3/CD Playuer which is 200W. I'm looking for two 12" subwoofers but then don't know the best combo to get or what to get. I'm leaning towards two type-r subs and a rockford 1000W amp.

hmm save your money and just get a single 12w6v2 jl audio,,,,, and either get the amp your looking at,,, or find a good quality 4 channel.. and use 2 of the channels bridged for the sub,, and the other 2 channels for you front speaker upgrade......

to tell you the truth there is a lot you can do for 1000 bux,,,,

or you can just get 2 idmax 12" subs,, for about 600 bux and mount them IB (infinite baffle) on the rear seat or on the rear deck,,, and get a jbl bp1200.1 from ebay..... or if you can find an old school clarion apx1000 (500w x 2)

these should run you about 1grand each set up...

Indeed, many many different ways to go.

The Type R's and the Punch amp are good products, but you can do better for the sme or less money.

Rather than the 2 12's, I'd go with one 15. You could get into a single JL 15W3d4 for under $300, and a JBL 600.1 for under $200. Get a proper ported box together, and you have crazy bass for under $750 US including wires and box.

Put the remaining cash, towards a decent 4 channel (I'd go with the JBL to match the sub amp) for the highs, and good speakers all around.

That'd be my suggestion....

Build your own box. Glass it into the trunk. Make it look sweet, with that other 450 bucks :)

does anyone know if you can put a port in my sealed enclosure kind of looking like the q-logic box? or if anyone knows if the ported q-logic box is any good. I can only find bandpass boxes out here. Moved to WA this state sucks culo

When you port the box, you change the airspace requirements. Thus, if your box is the correct size for your subs sealed, than it's not the right size for ported.

Car Toys is all over WA state, they oughtta be happy to build somethin' for you. I even know some of the store managers and regional people (They were fellow sales guys when I worked there, why oh why did I ever quit that job?) so tell me where in WA you are and I might be able to get you hooked up....

Well, too late for 2Fst4u2C, but I just found a great deal for anyone looking -

Ikesound (www.ikesound.com) has refurbished 15" Kicker L7's for $199 each. Add to that the JBL bp amps at nutty prices (for instance, an 80.4 for $134.10 and a 600.1 for $189) and you have a insane bass and power for your highs for under $550.

They also sell the Kicker amps way cheap.

Thought I'd let ya'll know.... ;)

Wow - they have the Kicker 5x7" seperates for $99, and the 2 way coaxials for $53.

Kicker isn't my favorite brand, especially the square woofers. But these deals are just too good....
