2 step rev limit

I have been looking for a 2 step rev limit module for launch control and flat shift and i have found a Gizzmo item but you need to buy the shift light with it, the MSD ones only work with a MSD ignition and there is the Bee*r rev limiter. Which ever way you go you are up for $400 plus! I was thinking about how these would work and from what i can guess they would disconnect or ground the trigger signal to the ignition module at the set rpm. I don't think it would be too hard to make something to do the job for much less using a shift light and some other electronics. But this is the part were i need your help :p i know there is some people on here that have some electronic knowledge (i have a reasonable amount but not enough) who could help me build such a thing and if i can get a good package i would build them for all you guys :)

Possible setup? just a quick drawing

for launch control i can custom make you an ECU (V6 only) that should be able to do it no worries. i just move the rev limiter to your "launch RPM" then once the clutch pedal is up it will set your upper limit to whatever you want (7000rpm or whatever). i was going to mess with this on my car but the cars getting painted right now.

as for the above diagram i doubt it would work because the current available to go through the coil (lots) wouldnt be able to be shunted with a small transistor (and the resistor only makes it harder, but in theory its correct to use the shift lights power to turn off power to the coil (or before the coil). personally i would use a 2N3055 or similar (MJE3055) to turn off the input to the HEI (where less current is used). this also saves you modding the input to the coil where back EMF will cause high voltage spikes.

I did think about turning of the input but i was thinking about kill switches that do it this way but i like the idea of turning off the input better. How much would be involved with the ECU just the Eprom or some other things, would i be able to have a setup to edit it myself and the big question the cost? If i could get a setup that i could tune aswell then it would be a good option other than MS
i can sell you a simple 2 stage ECU for $100US custom programmed (VRIS, rev lmiters, fuel, timing etc) or if you want a tunable system i can do it for $400US (includes emulator and software for tuning). the $400 system allows you to modify the ECU parameters while driving in real time and includes support (from me personally).
^^^^ nice, just like MSnS.

BTW I got my msd 2step set up few days ago, launching never been easier. All you have to do is just wait for sum1 to sell their stuff. I waited about a month till I got my msd 6al + 2step deal for $150 shipped from member on PT.
wow that sounds sweet stoker i will buy the $400 system off you but not right now you tyres are more important atm :( but this is next on the list
Not to go off topic but holy hell Port Orchard! Born and Raised home town. Welcome!
