So i actually ran a MGT the other day, it was an Auto convertible, he had no passenger and i had my buddy with me, we went from a roll in 2nd gear twice, it was dead close, i was slightly pulling in 2nd (ever so slightly) and in 3rd he would slowwwwly make it up, and we shut it down somewhere in 3rd.. same outcome both times!! Im pretty sure i would leave him a few C/L behind if i didnt have a passenger!
The same TSI i ran last week was there(3 way race), this time he got a boost guage and was figuring out some of the problems he was having with detonation, he took me this time by over a C/L in the same distance as i raced the MGT(last time we raced we both had a passenger), he is getting a boost controller later this week and i cant wait to give him a run in more fair conditions!

Don't get your hopes up for that, if you didn't have a passenger, he probably would not inch on you the way he did in 3rd. No way does 150-200 lbs passenger make a several carlength difference in such a close race.

For every 100 lbs you take out of your car you take a tenth off your time (1/4) one tenth=1 car length in the 1/4 mile.

And what year (or bodystyle) was this Mustang? And is the TSI AWD or FWD?

It was a brand new Mustang, like i said in the title, 2003... TSI is AWD, newer generation...
So with my passenger and subs out of my car i could expect at least a car on him in the 1/4, what counts is that i would be ahead, right?

aggiedj02 are u dissapointed your pride and joy didnt destroy me? Dont worry, ive also raced the 5spd ones, lets just say, it pulled on me a bit quicker in 2nd and 3rd..

Just so you know, the auto convertable is the heaviest and therefore slowest of the GT's, a 5spd hardtop with a good driver would do more than pull a bit faster. Good race nonetheless. BTW i used to have a 3.9 litre Dakota auto that would take auto Gt's. 255 horsepower at the wheels. hehehe.

the convertible only weighs 140pounds more than the hardtop, i had my subs and 17's on, and these auto mustangs run low 15's right?
anyway, its nice keeping with a brand new V8!!

I'm just amazed someone in a convertable ran you... that is SO dumb it amazes me!!!

he had his hood up, why is it dumb? the guy had rented the car for the weekend because a friend was comming into town and his 2001 "cavalier isnt reliable enough to drive a girl around in", and he was taking the car back the next day so he was just racing the TSI i mentioned and i saw them and joined in a few!

and i didnt mean your car specifically, but just the mustang in general, it has the same engine as yours! got anything done to your stang?

I have the SBC's and have a catted x-pipe, LT's, and Flowmaster's on the way via mail. That is good for at least 30hp and 30torque to the wheels.

And even stock I'd kill you. An auto can't control shift points. If he doesn't know anything about the car, then he probably didn't downshift it when he floored it. The auto will do it, but it will do it safely, and shifts way too soon.

So be happy... you couldn't even beat a car that didn't get to take full advantage of its powerband.

Race a stock 4.6L hard top with a 5spd and see what happens.

I have raced one mx6 since I got this car, and it had I/E, plugs and wires, and some suspension work done. Let's just say it wasn't much of a race... I had him by 2 cars by the beginning of second gear and kept pulling until I shut down at 60 when he was prolly a bus length behind me or more!!!

Yeah 260 horse stock, and around 3400 lbs...nuff said. You have no Idea what a properly tuned GT can do man..A five speed makes a world of difference in a Mustang, the auto in those cars is possibly fords worst tranny. IMO anyway. I drove one with 5spd, and the limited slip ON and it consistantly chirped the tires going into 3rd.

i have no doubt the 5spd will beat me.. but i didnt race a 5spd this time, i was talking about an auto.. i raced a 5spd from 35mph in 2nd to end of 3rd and he had about 2 cl on me, that was just after i got my headers, the EGR wasnt hooked up so it sount kinda bad...

You know what Silver, dont try to explain anything to this guy, his car is WAY to far up his ass for him to accept that his type of car may have lost a race!!! Geesh, your not number one? Someone must be lying. Why do you have to be at our website, and just start bein an ass to anyone, who claims to beat a MGT. Where you there? I dont think so. Did you see it? I dont think so. Well then, for all we know he is correct on beating a MGT. So seriously, why do you have to argue with him about it? He said he beat him, so what? He prolly did, if not, who cares?

Funny, I also had a 3.9L Dakota, but mine quickly turned into a VR4 drivetrain, and became an anything eater, until it ate a tree one night...

Silver Im just stating facts about the GT 5spd, I didn't say you raced it and don't waont to be the cause of an arguement.

He never said he beat the stang, if anything it was even.

I see no reason for all the slamming of aggiedj02, he did come across as a little cocky, but i would be too, in a gt, racing v6s and 4 bangers.

What he said was true though, it was just cocky. And for you info many people have posted beating cars of much higher status and have been called a liar and laughed at on this site, so I think you should get OVER it. Cry about it when it happens too you, Silver is big enough to take care of himself.

Hell yeah it is faster! I'll admite that, but I do believe Silvers story.

aggie doesnt' think every mx-6 will lose to his car, he knows which ones will give him a run

and, though you are certainly due credit for beating any latest g mustang gt, the convertible auto is the heaviest, and has the auto transmission, so if you barely beat him, you are likely running a respectable low 15, high 14 in your car. good job on puttin it down. now move up to a hard top auto, then beat a 5 speed hard top and you can brag like me hehe
