I was just wondering, i am trying to convince my friend to get an mx6 gt.
I remember reading somewhere that i can make a mx6 gt into a 13 sec car for ~500
now what would that include.

btw, i can get almost any part i want for free from a junk yard (tbird super coupe stuff)
and am not afraid of modifying at the lowest cost possible.

Oh and for ems, megasquirt, and 3bar map sensor, btw the i am friends with the meagsquirt tuning god (dieselgeek)
(btw megasquirt owns for ~200-300$ you can get the same results as an aem)

so what could you do to a mx6 gt to make it fast at the cheapest rate possible.
(btw if my friend dont do this i proboboly will)

open exhaust from the O2 housing-free
chip...$65
boost controller...self made or cheap off ebay...$5-40
tbird turbo used in good condition...$100-150
turbo rebuild kit...$100
slicks...use someone elses...or buy $200

a little over 500 but will get you 13's with good driving.

Everyone says $500 into performace which is somewhat true...swhine617 has more into it than that T-bird+fidanza+intercooler > $500...

But no one talks about the maintence you buy an 89...130+k miles...first your going to have to do timing belt water pump...possibly axels...bushings...brakes...etc...maintence is the biggest factor...

Ive spent $1500 in the one year I have owned my car. New suspension, steering, brakes, engine and drivetrain, and turbo upgrade. Only ran it when it was stock. got a 15.9 cuzthe tires were harder than the pavement.

He he he my GT has 42,000 miles on it. Its time to play. :muhaha:
I am also acquiring an LX with a blown up GT motor in it. I plan to gut the interior and drop my spare turbo motor in it and go run with that. I can't wait for the drag strip to open back up in February.

after breaking in my new head, and fixing my damn boost leak, with ~400, i should be running (in theory) 13's.
that is of course if my 38,000 mile clutch doesnt go out on me, and if my tires don't blow.

these 1st gens are quick for cheap, but if you want a 9 second car, start saving!

actually id like to shoot for somewhere in the 12s

anyone ever think about an mx6 gt for grass roots motorsports challenge
http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/news/category/2006-challenge/
i think it would be a pretty cool idea...

----
i already got tires covered,
i have nice 11 inch wide drag radials from my rx7,
sure i may need a few spacers, and take off my fenders,
but if i can cut 1.8s in the rx7 with them easy, i think they should work.

5X114.3 rules lol
